Free Minds & Free Markets

The Star Wars Libertarian Special

May the market forces be with you.

Just in time for the holidays, The Star Wars Libertarian Special features Senate filibusters, border patrol stops, eminent domain, a guest appearance by Edward Snowden, and rarely seen footage from Chewbacca's galaxy-trotting documentary series about free-market economics.

About 3 minutes.

Written by Austin Bragg, Meredith Bragg, and Andrew Heaton. Featuring Andrew Heaton and Austin Bragg. Produced by Austin Bragg and Meredith Bragg. Edited by Austin Bragg.

This parody is not affiliated with the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), though you should watch it if you haven't already.

Come on guys! Where are the comments, Reason are pulling out the stops and the commentariat are slacking.

My favorite part was Obi-wan getting shit in the face.

    Happy now?

  • Lord Rollingpin||

    I missed that bit!

    Free to Chewbacca. love it

I thought this was quite clever. Personally I think the new Reason site design has something to do with the lack of responsiveness of the commentariat. I nearly skipped this because, at a glance, I thought it was an ad. The new page layout kinda blows.

That said, there seem to be some things that don't pull the comment levels one would expect. The Daily Brickbat seems like a great example. I love the Brick and look forward to getting angry every morning and yet it is rarely commented on. I may post this thought on the a.m. or p.m. links which seem to get massive attention even on a slow news day.

    Go figure.

Brickbat comments slowed to a trickle when it went from its own HyR mention to a one line link in the A.M. links.

The page to visit is not HyR but the home page, then click the gray New box, and everything below lines up in order so it's easy to see what is new since your last visit, even the stuff that will only show up later as a one line link in the A.M. or P.M. links.

Cute little idea. Might have been better as 2 or 3 longer vignettes instead of a bunch of quick cuts. But still watchable and amusing.

    I liked it. Great job.

Free to Chewbacca was fantastic, as was the bit about sandpeople.

I did an honest-to-goodness spit-take at "Commence Eminent Domain." And I did it right in front of a cow-orker.

    You magnificent bastards.

Particularly witty to have Drew Carey playing the first Death Star.

Well done, Braggs and Heaton, well done.

    That was FANTASTIC!
