So you use New Xkit and use their No Recommended and Anti-Capitalism extensions – but you find that it takes a minute to kick in, so that when your page loads you see a ton of posts you’d really rather not see on your dash. (Especially for recommended posts, especially for the ones tumblr thinks you’ll like because you follow that tag search.) Just for a minute, yeah, but that’s a minute you don’t need to deal with that crap. Or maybe you don’t use New Xkit for some reason. But either way, there’s a solution for that, and it’s easy.

Just install Adblock in your browser (if you don’t already use that addon/extension, though you should be), and add these custom filters:

www.tumblr.com##*.sponsored_post
www.tumblr.com##*.takeover-container
www.tumblr.com##*.yamplus-unit-container

www.tumblr.com##DIV[data-is_recommended="1"]

And voila, those ads and recommended posts disappear. They won’t show up when the page loads, not even for a few seconds – really, you won’t even know they ever existed. :)

BTW, I’ll keep this post updated in case Tumblr ever changes the code, so if you run into problems, just check back at the source of the post.
