Welcome to The Coach and Horses – a historic country pub in Cheshire set within beautiful countryside in the village of Timbersbrook near Congleton. The pub has amazing views over the Cheshire plains. The Coach and Horses is affectionately known locally as “The Fair House” as the local fair took place at this location in the 19th century. The pub has a friendly atmosphere and is frequented by countryside ramblers, visitors to the area and of course the local ‘regulars’.
The pub and restaurant is run by Carol and Mike McCann (and their dog, Sam) who took over from the previous tenants in November 2014. Mike and Carol are committed to serving the finest cask ales, wines and locally sourced pub food on their frequently changing seasonal menu. It is their intention to create the best pub in Cheshire!
The public house is the centre of the Timbersbrook community and depends on the support of local people, so in return Mike and Carol source as many ingredients as they can from farms and businesses close by.
Food is served 6 days a week at the following times
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday : 6pm – 10pm
Friday : Noon – 3pm & 6pm – 10pm

Regular events take place at the pub and in the restaurant – see our events page here on the site for more details.
We now stock a superb range of 22 ‘premium’ gins – including ‘Forest Gin’ made from botanicals sourced in the nearby Macclesfield Forest.
We are proud to support Bailey’s Farm in nearby Rushton Spencer – one of the only UK breeders of Wagyu cattle. We use the meat extensively on our menu (It is the best beef in the world!)
We pride ourselves in being one of the best country pubs and restaurants in Cheshire. We strive for excellence in food, drink and service and go that ‘extra mile’ to ensure our customers are happy. Our food is ‘home cooked’ and ingredients locally sourced, our cask ales are kept well in a temperature controlled cellar and our range of fine wines and premium spirits is ‘second to none’.
The location of The Coach and Horses is one of the finest in Cheshire – overlooking the Cheshire Plains with views all the way to Snowdonia, The Wirall and Chester (on a clear day!). The interior of the pub/restaurant is warm and cosy with 3 open log fires and comforatable chairs.
We are dog friendly and relaxed when it comes to dress code (ramblers are frequent visitors).
We have a wide range of tea’s and serve the finest Illy coffee in our bar, restaurant and lounge.
Mike and Carol (and our dog, Sam) look forward to welcoming you to our ‘haven of peace’ in the Cheshire countryside.
You are guaranteed a warm welcome by Sam (in the middle) – the ‘pub dog’. He is a cross German Shepherd/Golden Retriever, the softest and most gentle dog you will ever meet. We are dog friendly and always have ‘treats’ behind the bar for visitors!
