Should The United States Invade Central and South America

Well the title pretty much explains this thread,Should the United States invade those down south to us through combat or diplomacy. I personally think it would be a great idea,through these conquests America would gain control of rich natural resources and this would put an entire end to the immigration problems that come south of the border. Once America establishes power it could start a cartel and para military purge of the former nations,the locals would gain American freedoms and rights. So what do you think nsg ?

I doubt the US could even afford to keep up the invasions/occupations.

A lot of the fighting would be reminiscent of Vietnam, you know, one of the wars that the US lost.
