Dear Customers,

We are sorry to announce a recall of the current DM-15L calculators.

The Problem:
The DM-15L was designed with a polyethylene (PE) foil with domed contacts. The contact areas of these domes are made of printed ink. Comparable calculators on the market have exactly the same contacts, so this was thought to be the right choice. Unfortunately this type of contact has some problems. First of all the printed ink wears off after intense use, maybe it takes years, months, or possibly only weeks, but this is not acceptable to meet the quality level and requirements we want to achieve. In addition the touch and feel of these domes are not uniform on all, some tend to make more noise than others. The printed ink domes also tend to be less reliable to register pressed keys.

The Solution:
We will replace the printed ink contact areas with round metal domes. They give a much nicer and uniform tactile feedback, they do not wear off and they also make a more reliable contact. Unfortunately this change also requires the contact area of the printed circuit board (PCB) to be changed, thus the whole PCB must be replaced. Once the new PCB is available we will sell this model again. This is expected by the end of October 2015.
Customers who have already bought a DM-15L will receive a free replacement PCB which will be easy for the customer to install. The PCB will include the attached LCD and the new designed metal domes.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Upon receipt of the new PCBs we will contact you again to inform you about the replacement procedure.
Best regards,

Michael Steinmann
