//So what if the public wants socialism or "to make America great again"?//

Yeah.

Spot on.

If peopel want to live in a democracy they should go and live in North Korea.

Didn't say anything about democracy. I said the vote of someone who doesn't have the education or foresight to judge a candidate is virtually useless. Your comment confirms my thoughts that moderates just don't click with people today. Democracy without any bars, not even a simple voter test, doesn't work. You need balance.

Thanks for making your meaning clearer. I thought you were saying that people's democratically expressed views weren't important at all.

Also can you more clearly define what you mean by moderate?

I live in Scotland and here 70% of people think that private companies shouldn't be allowed to run the public health service and 46% either agree or strongly agree that government should redistribute income from better-off to less well off. A party that opposes nuclear weapons and has brought in free at point of access medication prescriptions got 49.8% of the vote here in the last election and currently has 60% support in polls.

That's moderate in Scotland: anti-nukes, pro-wealth redistribution, anti-private provision of healthcare.

Does this apply to you as well?

I have a feeling you would fail any test required.

Do elaborate on how you "feel" that. And to answer your previous "point" (I use the term loosely), if I lack the education to judge a candidate, my vote shouldn't count.

Oh man. This would be great. 99% of you plebs wouldn't be able to vote. What would be any different than most of you not voting today?

btw, the reason the electoral college exists is to find the balance you have described. The popular vote is just a suggestion.

The founding fathers knew the average person was ill informed and acted accordingly.
