That's because female genital mutilation is not comparable to male circumcision in the slightest. They cut off practically the whole vagina with female "circumcision". With males, they just cut off a bit of extra skin that we don't need anyway for hygienic and aesthetic reasons.

EDIT: Didn't think I had to spell it out like this, but apparently for some people I do. By "vagina" I meant external reproductive system, as is common usage of the word.

You still have it wrong! The female reproductive system is even more internal than the vagina!

They cut off the clitoris, which is external and the source for sexual pleasure. Women that have sadly had FGM still have periods and babies.

I get the use of the word vagina for general discussions. But ypu are talking specifically about sexual organs, so this is the conversation to be a bit more specific.

There are many variations of female circumcision, some more comparable to male circumcision than others. Also in male circumcision you cut off some of the most sensitive area of a sex organ.

The bit they cut-off is not the most sensitive area. They cut-off the foreskin which COVERS the most sensitive area. That is why when one gets an erection the fore-skin rolls back revealing the sensitive part for sex.

No, its that the most sensitive area no longer is protected, so it loses sensitivity over time. All the nerves are still there, they just become a bit more numb due to constant exposure.

It might be "hygienic" if there is no water around. I believe US is covered for this reason. Aesthetic? Sorry - nobody is cutting anything off my dick. It is my my fucking DICK for the love of god. It's a bit less religious and more for health reasons to my knowledge. There's a vast amount of parents who get it done because it's easier and less painful than waiting til 18

Health reasons which are all bullshit pseudo-science. Wasn't the study behind this run in Africa, and the main reason was that the (recently) circumcised males didn't have much sex because they'd just been fucking circumcised, whereas those who remained uncut kept going at it like normal? Transmission rates are quite low anyway, in the single figures, even for high risk activities. It makes very little difference if the disease spreads at 3% rate or at a 1.5% rate, especially when awareness, testing and use of protection can reduce the chances of someone being infected to a minuscule figure.
