That was the case at my polling station last week as well. The line for our table was fairly steady, but we actually had breaks and rarely had lines. The other table went 5 hours without a break and lines out the door of the building.

You could chalk it up to slow workers at the other table or incompetence on somebody's part. But we actually averaged their voter numbers out and they were processing voters at about 45 seconds per person. We were averaging 50 seconds per person at our table during our peak busy times. They weren't slow.

But maybe they had more voters on their list? Not by much! We had ~6600 people in our binder and they had ~6700. That's not enough to account for the difference in our lines.

Some neighbourhoods must have more engaged voters. And sometimes you're just there at peak time (which last weekend was at polls opening and immediately after meal times).
