I just can't get why so many bitcoin fans in this forum are believers of conspiracy theories. What about this forum makes it so attractive to believers of conspiracy theories. Furthermore, why do those people think it's a good idea to share obscure theories in a forum about bitcoin?

Edit for spelling

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. EWallets are like banks -- a central organization has complete control over your money. You shouldn't put much money in EWallets.

it's natural in any big forums/communities, especially when the forum allows free speech. the internet is filled with conspiracy theories.

In order to protect your bitcoin, you need to be somewhat paranoid as if you are not then there is a greater chance that your money will end up getting stolen. Some people take greater then necessary precautions against theft then are really necessary, however these precautions are generally praised as being good ways to protect yourselves, which results in others to be encouraged to go to crazy extremes to protect themselves against non-existant threats.

maybe because some of the ideas behind bitcoin are the ideas that fuel these conspiracy theorists

I for one Like bitcoin because of the freedom it promotes. When you own a dollar, you own a certain a amount of debt and somebody other than yourself is controlling the dimensions of this debt.  When you own a bitcoin you own a bitcoin. There is no federal reserve printing bitcoins just because mr.satoshi needs to buy more Instagram followers.

Now when you get people that like the idea of freedom, generally people that like to think for themselves are included among them, i.e people that do not buy into everything they are told just because it came pre-packaged in a beautiful media presentation. People that like to research and question and make sense of things through experience and intellect.

Hence free-thinkers are attracted to bitcoin.

Some people generalize free-thinkers under the blanket term "conspiracy-theorists,"  because they do not like to have their beliefs challenged and as a defense mechanism, attack through name-calling with which they themselves hardly understand.

Hence "Why there so many conspiracy theorists here"

End Presentation.

Generally the type of people who use Bitcoin are those that are more into conspiracies and paranoia. If you think about it, Bitcoin is based on not trusting anyone. The people who don't trust anyone are those that are inclined to believe in conspiracy theories since conspiracy theories are based on not trusting the word of those that it is against.

Paranoid people are attracted to bitcoin by nature. There are many different personalities here though.

Please research these so called "theories" over the decades litterally 100's of "theories' prooved to be true.... In other words, dont be a sheep and wake the fuck up.... in stead of judging, research it, but one warning, you will be horrified to see what governments do on a regular basis...
