That leopard was a great midwife

Scared that baby right out! The rush of adrenaline and forced cardio does wonders for the mother!

Sounds like an snl skit

yeah, its a good pun but then when you drag the joke out over a 5 minute sketch it gets old really fast. Just like an SNL sketch.

[–]justsomeguy_youknow 22ポイント23ポイント  (5子コメント)

And then it drags on for another three more increasingly awkward minutes. Just like a SNL sketch.

and then 10 years from now everyone's all like "i loved that skit"

And they show it to their friends who dont watch SNL, swearing it's the funniest skit in the world and the friend watches in tense, awkward silence as this shitstorm of a skit unfolds on their friend's phone

Let's be real here this is the abortion clinic video Carly fiorina was talking about. Just look at that sweet poor little angel and child of god getting used for parts!

Reminds me of my mom. She ran away when she saw a leopard too.

Damn that's brutal. Imagine being born then immediately dying horribly by being eaten.

The circle of life

The circle is getting damn small these days

It's more of just a point.

The point of life is just to be born and then die?

Yep, sounds about right.

Out of all the animals in the animal kingdom, I can't say I hate any one of them.

Except baboons. Fanged, angry territorial fuckers who will rip your nuts off if you so much as look at them funny. They're the gang hooligans of the animal kingdom. I remember this doco of two guys who traveled via boat to an uninhabited island, except for a society of baboons. Why the fuck they went there, I have no clue, but one of them got to see his mate get ripped to shreds by these psychotic apes.

Fuck baboons.

Soooo what's the documentary?

I remember of it, I don't remember what it was called.

I guess you can look up "two guys baboob island" if you want.

Jesus man. It's so easy to forget how brutal animals can be.

I saw a fawn get literally ripped out of its mother's womb and being torn apart alive by a pack of hyenas. That must be the cruelest way to live and die imaginable.

Your only experience with life outside your mother's womb is a row of murderous teeth ripping you out of the womb and you get a glimpse of the sky and the sun before your face is being torn apart while you scream.

Nature is metal as fuck.

I remember seeing a charity poster saying "No child is born to die" - obviously the creators ignored the fact that it is the only thing that every living creature will do.

.....you have to set an aquarium up for breeding.

Most aquariums aren't quite like natural environments. Makes natural phenomenon (fish are stupid) worse.

Leopard: "but its fresh from the oven!"

What if the people filming shot the leopard and then the mother impala came back later to find her newborn next to a dead leopard? "He's the one!"

I hate to be the one to tell you.. But you already know what I'm going to tell you, dont you? Now have a cookie, you'll feel right as rain.

It's fucked up from our perspective yes, but for that leopard its a quick, easy and safe kill with zero risk of injury.

Let's be honest, if man still had to catch and kill every animal we ate ourselves, we'd eat so many babies just for the sheer convenience.

Actually, judging from the leopard's reaction, even it apparently questioned the morality of killing a baby right out of its mother's womb.

But then he needs to eat.

EDIT: Holy crap people. I am joking.

I think it was trying to figure out if the people filming it were rival predators.

No he just isn't used to his prey not fleeing and his hunting instincts did not kick in.

Leopards are very far away from a grasp of morality.

No, it probably was aware of the camera, thought it may be a threat to steal it's meal, and thus hesitated

It's probably just being a curious cat.

Idk, it kind of looked like, "Hmm... smells weird. Should I eat it? I mean, what if it's got some disease or something. Never smelled it like this before... Meh, fuck it, I'll be fine." CHOMP

at the end it was like DONT JUDGE ME

And yet here we all are.

Don't you find it morbidly fascinating that it was born into a world and taken out of it in a matter of minutes, it's very sad but the fact that it was born and didn't get a chance to even comprehend the world (or even life in itself) is strange to think about.

It literally didn't even realize it was in danger until the cat picked him up

But it certainly realised it had floppy ears.

Baby gazelle are so cute.

Like the whale in A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

Honestly that was less brutal than i thought it would be. Cat was very quick with the kill, no bullshit. Kitty gotta eat

someone needs to get PETA on that shit. Jaguars should be eating vegan, not meat.

Yeah, until the little one's death.

The leopard gently picks up the antelope by the scruff of it's neck and takes it back to it's pride. The pride, confused, listens to what Mr Leopard has to say. 'This baby antelope's mother abandoned it, I feel it would be unfair for us to do the same, or worse.. eat it.' The pride, still unsure how to feel, let's Mr Leopard continue. 'I propose we raise this baby antelope within our pride. If any of you disagree with this, I have no choice but to leave..' The pride, now more sympathetic due to Mr Leopard's courageous words, allows Mr Leopard to let the baby antelope join the pride.. with the condition Mr Leopard is fully responsible for it's upbringing. How this tale pans out, we may never know...

EDIT: Okay I get it, Leopards don't have prides. But they don't speak English either, so just go with it. In this tale leopard prides exist because I say so.

But leopards don't have prides, they're solitary. I think you made this up.

Sir, are you calling me a liar? Are you telling me people go on the internet and tell lies? BLASPHEMY

I'm pretty sure that leopards don't have prides.

The best part is that when animals like this eat each other they like to start by pulling your insides out through your asshole. It's like god just made a big bag of meat and left the bag open at one end ... and if you start pulling from that end, the whole insides can just come out because it's all one big tube full of juicy goodness. God's plan is wonderful - just like how a banana is designed by god to perfectly fit in your hand, the insides of a baby deer are perfectly designed to be ripped out of its asshole for leopards to eat.

I strongly suspect the baby gets eaten.

They became unlikely BFFs

[–]smegma_berserker 5ポイント6ポイント  (2子コメント)

I don't want to know.

How is babby nommed. How is babby nommed. How impala get pragnent.

SPOILER: it gets killed.

No, the leopard takes it to its kind where it will grow to think its a leopard, mmhmm, yup, thats what happened, and then later in life will kill its mother for food as a leopard would have done but in the midst of everything will remember her in her last seconds in life as the one who abandoned him.

I WANTED TO BELIEVE OTHERWISE, I DON'T KNOW WHY

Bad ending :(

You were expecting a different outcome?

I thought they were going to start a family and the doe would become a hybrid leopard.

Reproductive incompatibility would probably result in a retarded leopard/doe hybrid. So something closer to a leotardoe maybe?

And they would name it Prius

You were expecting a different outcome?

It would make more sense if the afterbirth smell instinctively made them good friends and so he raised him from a foal to a strong adult and then ate him because it's more meat.

Quick death though. A bite to the head pretty much kills it almost instantly.

If you want a happy ending get a massage.

That's crazy, what massage place would do that? Like where exactly are they located?

Bad ending :(

Were you watching the same video? He carried him off to his castle and they lived happily ever after.

I find it interesting in how the leopard looks so intently into the camera.

You gotta imagine it's used to other things (hyenas or something) being right around the corner to scoop up their food, it's probably hella nervous about losing its dinner

Or even becoming dinner, pretty much every other animal sees humans as a threat.

except chihuahuas, those motherfuckers are tough

Yes, but I find a little ketchup helps them go down easier.

Salsa is more appropriate, though.

It's like, "Yo, dis yo lamb?"

The lens looks a lot like an eyeball. To the leopard, it was as though a large animal was scoping it out.

Why didn't it run away?

Petrified with fear, and running wouldn't do anything other than activate their prey response to tear it to shreds.

Well, it's a baby, they don't know better. That's why you can usually come very close to baby animals in general if you're out in the woods, they just don't yet know what is dangerous to them.

"Welcome to the world, little one! Prepare to be devoured."

So, I know this looks bad from a human perspective, but if you look at it from an antelope perspective this is the most correct choice.

In humans, if a parent dies protecting a child there is a chance there is another parent to raise the child to adulthood. Even if not, there are care takers and programs that give the child the chance to survive until adulthood.

However, to the antelope, if the mother passes, the baby will most certainly be doomed to die anyway. There will be no other care taker to provide milk for the baby. If it doesn't get eaten first, it will starve to death. The mother can easily have another baby next year, but both will die if mother dies now. The mother can't even stay and try to fight. It has NO chance in a physical confrontation with a leopard. The leopard would gladly take an adult antelope over a baby if it can easily catch it. Again, which would lead to the baby's death also.

So for the antelope, the best survival strategy is to abandon the baby and to try again next year.

Now let's discuss why the camera men don't try to "help out". Because in nature this is just how the predator eats. Would you still want them to intervene if you knew the result would be the Leopard would die of starvation? During the dry season that could definitely be the result. Or what if this is a mother leopard and this baby is going to feed her cubs. If you save this baby you may actually be killing all the baby cubs.

So hope that helps explain the situation to those that are not familiar with this sort of thing.

Now let's discuss why the camera men don't try to "help out". Because in nature this is just how the predator eats.

Also because LEOPARD!
