Student of animation here, had some thoughts on why it looks so angry. See, it isn't actually angry - the facial expression of anger is not the same for a tiger as it is for most primates. But it looks angry to us because see a facial code that represents anger in humans. This code consists of -

  1. Widened eyes, with raised upper lid.
  2. Lowered brow, with the inner end of the brow dipping below the centreline of the eyes.
  3. Outer ends of the nose are raised, indicating a sneer in the upper lip.
  4. The mouth appears to have a upside down smile shape [aka frown], which indicates action of the mentalis muscle and tightened, narrow lips.

Taken together, all of those symbols appear as anger to us. Note that some of those symbols [like the nose raised in a sneer] are the result of the tiger's anatomy rather than the tiger's expression. Anyway, had these thoughts on why it looks angry, thought I'd share.

Ah, glad I could help! Btw, as a side note, if you look up the image of an actually angry tiger, it looks like an odd mix of surprise+disgust+fear to us. Very non-specific and confusing as far as expressions go, since we haven't evolved to recognise the tiger's code for anger, just as it hasn't evolved to express the human code for anger.

The most important bit you missed, and what makes him look angry/pissed, is to the right of his nose, the snow is missing there. Making it feel like he is raising his upper right lip.
