Bitcoin 内の Justin_Guy によるリンク Serious Threat - Majority of bitcoin services trustingly hand their security over to the same centralized company.

Old news - this point has been made years ago.

Unfortunately all bitcoin sites are DDoS'd all the time, and average startups don't have the bandwidth or ability to deal with a DDoS.

That is the nature of software. Nothing Microsoft-specific.

The ability to create bitcoin - P2P software that network together - is the same ability to create huge botnets and DDoS attacks.

Thanks for the kind words. FAQs:

  • This has nothing to do any social media, IRC, block size or similar micro-dramas.

  • Definitely continuing with bitcoin core development

  • Even if that wasn't the case, we have a resilient system that can survive the loss of any particular developer.

  • In an ideal world, if I was my own one-man corporation was that funded by multiple independent sources, I would be working on: bitcoind, moxiebox, and other building blocks for autonomous systems that collaborate through decentralized, reputation driven markets on a peer level with humans.

Also want to work on more real world demos of bitcoin functionality. Example: https://github.com/jgarzik/auctionpunk A bitcoin-specific auction that relies on certain protocol features to reduce liability on bidder & auctioneer sides.

Need 1,000 more working demos like that to show the power and flexibility of bitcoin in real world scenarios.

Article leans heavily on anti-bitcoin sources such as Nicolas Courtois or the Ethereum folks.

No, no such claim is made about S&P (see the "or"). I am aware of one not-S&P exotic index that is primarily an Excel spreadsheet on one person's computer.

If people want to nitpick the Tesla example, Red Hat is an even better example:

Patent policy: http://www.redhat.com/legal/patent_policy.html Read at least the first few paragraphs.

Defensive patent pool for Linux industry - bitcoin needs one of these: http://www.openinventionnetwork.com

Quoting Red Hat's patent policy, "Red Hat has consistently taken the position that software patents generally impede innovation in software development and that software patents are inconsistent with open source/free software."

[–]jgarzik 5ポイント6ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's not that simple. Many miners have expressly said they want as near to zero fees in the short term, because (a) it incentivizes adoption during the bootstrapping phase of bitcoin's life, and (b) the subsidy is worth far more than fee income even at "high fee" levels. This will continue to be true for years into the future.

Miner income directly depends on BTC not losing value, and almost all major miners are long bitcoin (== believe in the long term picture where bitcoin's value increases).

Bitcoin's overall value is far more relevant miners than high-fee or low-fee scenarios. Economic growth tends to trump fee schedules [unless fees reach a certain painful maximum].

People do not make transactions, wallets do. :) A wallet would not use this feature and then throw away the key...

[–]jgarzik[S] 24ポイント25ポイント  (0子コメント)

The two bullet points are not connected. They can be used together, but that is not required.

For the latter, if many users use the feature by default in their wallet, miners cannot raise block size above that which the majority of users dictate.
