Don't get me wrong, I'm all for this sub in spirit. I'm starting to notice that the censorship in Reddit has crossed the line, beyond just moderating. That's the huge problem for a site that, to me and many others, operates as a vehicle for free speech and information. To know what's going on in the world, this is the place I go.
The problem is that I had to do a bit of digging to find out the extent of it. I only noticed when a thread I had been following closely suddenly disappeared. My first thought was that it had just been buried, since there was no explanation, until I remembered that only 30 minutes ago it had been number one on the front page. I had to post a thread asking what had happened before I learned that it had been censored. Otherwise, I would have never realised. At the very least, they need to tell people when and why something has been deleted.
This makes me mad, and I want to bring this to people's attention, but I don't know if this is the right place. I'm pretty sure I'd be preaching to the choir. Maybe this is wrong (I only just found this subreddit), but I'm pretty sure that anybody browsing this sub is already aware of the problem.
Basically, we need a forum that establishes some sort of dialogue between the community as a whole and the mods about this sort of thing. How do we get this on the front page? Remember that Ellen Pao thing? At the time, there were cascades of threads and posts on the front page and it almost sunk her, so reddit was forced to address it.
Specifically, this is what I'm talking about.
