When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

He did the crime, he should do the time. I highly doubt pig fucker Cameron will do anything.

EDIT: yes, 350 lashes is a but nuts, but having these punishments deters people from doing it in the first place. He knew the risk and was stupid enough to put it in a place where police could search.

Edit 2: down vote train choo choo bitches.

You gotta play by the rules. Everyone over there knows the consequences to their actions, he's an adult. It's not like he's stealing bread to feed his family he's illegally making booze because he can't stand not having a drink after work, where he undoubtedly gets paid a boatload.

that's bullshit and you know it.

Because it's their law. Their country. The rules and punishments for breaking laws are clear upon entry. Would you go to Thailand with a shit load of drugs? Didn't think so.

Cameron won't do anything. Hell, the U.S. hasn't done anything about Saudi Arabia's involvement in 9/11 yet so I doubt the U.K. across the pond will even make a phone call about some homebrewer.

EDIT: Are you serious dude? He was making his own fucking wine, not robbing a house. This is a country where movies, bacon, music schools, gyms for girls, women working "men's jobs" and other mundane things are illegal.

im not really sure why you are being downvoted.

the guy chose to homebrew wine even though he knew the risks involved. he fucked up.

whether or not such a harsh punishment is warranted for his offense is a completely different issue.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

If you're a Jew in Germany, circa 1941, too bad! The LAW says you should die, and by jolly, you'll do it!

Hitler was democratically elected. Something being "the law," even when decided democratically (which it certainly isn't in monarchy-run Saudi Arabia) doesn't make it just. It is the moral duty of every sane person in the world to decry unjust and evil laws in the most vociferous manner possible.

Hahaha, that's a great counter. Touche.

However the Jews didn't have a choice, Hitler was just a cunt.

This chap knew he was breaking the law and still did it anyway. He knew the risks and has no one to blame but himself.

Hopefully Cameron can get him a jail sentence or something. However he's a useless twat and im not particularly hopeful.

49% of the population in any democracy may not have supported whoever's in charge. Doesn't mean the majority should be able to execute them.

I don't disagree that he chose to move to Saudi Arabia - something I would never, ever agree to do. Dumb move. Dumber still to produce alcohol. But that doesn't mean that the barbaric ruling class of Saudi Arabia isn't one of the most abhorrent forces of tyranny that exist on this planet. And their barbarism is largely whitewashed in Western media. The House of Saud has beheaded far more people than ISIS in the last year, and yet ISIS has become synonymous with evil, covering every newspaper, while the Saudis are "allies" of most western nations, particularly the US and UK.

Any story that draws attention to their barbarism is a challenge to the narrative that they're a reasonable ally, and should force any reasonable observer to question the West's (particularly the USA's) insane and maddeningly hypocritical foreign "policy" (if such a word can be used) in the region. If it takes a story about a stupid home-brewer to induce some empathy among western readers, I'll take it.

True. And this law is inhumane and ridiculous and needs to be changed (along with the Saudi government).

But I'll be honest, I wouldn't have that much sympathy for a guy who moved to Nazi Germany (willingly, for work) and converted to Judaism. Not because a Jewish person in Nazi Germany deserved what would happen to them, but because it's a horribly stupid idea to move there if that's what you wanted to do. In the same way, it's harder to feel sympathy for someone who chose to move to Saudi Arabia and decided to start home brewing.
