MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A 21-year-old Medford man has been charged with assault after police say he punched his girlfriend because she didn't bring home In-N-Out burgers for dinner.

The Mail Tribune reports Christian Matthew Berry punched the 20-year-old woman and struck her with a cane on Sept. 10, the day after the burger joint opened its doors.

Medford police say Berry's 20-year-old girlfriend was treated at a hospital for bruises, scratches and a lump on her face.

Berry has been charged with multiple counts of assault and other charges. He has been released on his own recognizance and told not to contact the woman.
