All this banker-blockchain talk is counterproductive. (self.Bitcoin)

Look, banks are gonna bank...you can't stop a bank from banking. But, Bitcoin isn't about that system. Never has been and never will be. I feel like we are digging bitcoin's grave by focusing so much on the banking industry's moves and not focusing all the awesome brains in this sub on making Bitcoin better.

If we really want Bitcoin to be Netflix and Banks to be Blockbuster, then we should just ignore their "business model" and work to build a culture that is appealing. When disruption occurs, a new culture arises. What culture are we proposing to the masses that is more appealing than mindlessly directly depositing their funds into an account and then mindlessly swiping their card? That's the bank's system and right now I feel as if we haven't proposed a culture that can dethrone their model.

Would you care that a new distributed version of SWIFT came out and used Google Spanner instead of Oracle 11g ?

Why would you care that they wish to use some permissioned ledger (which has little more in common with Bitcoin as does Oracle 11g)?

I don't too much care...which means that someone outside of this sub, just a regualr ole street walker definitely does not care. What I am trying to say is that true disruption introduces a new culture. Smartphones introduced a new culture for communication. Netflix introduced a new culture for on demand entertainment. Hell, even way back to microwaves introduced a new culture for meal preperation. Bitcoin introduces a new way to think about money. Yes that is awesome, and yes I have completely bought in and agree that it shits on any fiat currency. However, the aforementioned disruptions also made things easier for people. Bitcoin has not done a good job making things easier for people.
