No wait I'm one of you!

You're the guy that inspired me to truly pursue the girl of my dreams, and while my family has all but treated me as if I don't exist, and all my friends have left me, I'm with the girl I love! Plus she has horns to grab on to!

Thank you for giving me the courage to come out!

Tagged as totally doesn't fuck goats. You're welcome.

Others are welcome to bolster the list.

Uhh not sure. You should be able to click on the tag and see the comment I made that lead to the tagging. Please let me know, because I'm curious aswell..

He wrote it in internet ink. Should have written in internet pencil so he could have internet corrected it.

On the upside Buzzfeed is really stale lately.

TOP 10 REASONS OUR CONTENT IS STALE LATELY. YOU WON'T BELIEVE NUMBER 6!

We stole it from reddit who stole it from facebook! You've already seen it 2 times!

But Facebook stole it from 9gag who actually made it up on there own for once! Actually that one was a lie. 9gag will never have original content.

What was it like, if you remember, when you joined the Century Club?

Don't worry, they'll just kick of a "best of 2015" list and repurpose the stuff they already took from Reddit.

"Top 17 'TOP TEN' LISTS OF 2015. YOU DIDN'T BELIEVE NUMBER ITEM 7 ON LIST 12 WHEN WE POSTED IN IN MARCH, AND YOU STILL WON'T BELIEVE IT NOW!"

At least their YouTube channels are actually entertaining.

This has become a serious problem. I have always been the "seen it already" guy and now I'm so behind on what's current. I don't understand why they did this to us.

I can't let my wife get the funnys before me, I have to divorce her. Thanks a lot Reddit.

Well since your wife uses Facebook, the consensus in /r/relationships would probably be that you're cheating on her and she should divorce you.

Facebook up, hit the lawyer and delete the gym

delete fat, hit depression, lawsuit up.

[–]jeff_from_antarctica 19ポイント20ポイント  (5子コメント)

Delete the gym sounds pretty damn doable. :)

Then you'll be redirected to /r/rape and be convicted by the whole community that infact, while you were married, you have been raping her the whole time. And go to jail.

I've been having the same problem with my wife the last couple weeks. The worst part is, now that she knows there's things posted on Facebook that I haven't already seen on Reddit, it's leading to her constantly shoving her phone in my face and asking me if I've seen this before.

That's my job! I'm on Reddit, I'm supposed to be doing that to you! She's taking my job!

[–]Eight_Rounds_Rapid 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

How are Redditors suppose to earn an income when all the jobs are done by Facebook moms, wives and girlfriends? If this keep happening the entire internet will collapse and Redditors won't be able to offer their labour for any utility at all!

We need /r/basicincome now!

Dank memes are just harder to come by these days

First the Pepe market crash now the great dank meme shortage

2015 has been a dark year for memes

turns out all the people posting OC were from those fat hating subs that were banned.

I can't believe you've done this

To please advertisers. If they are paying good money to make front page content, they will insist it stay there all day.

Proof?

the proof ends where my feelings begin

The proof is in the corporate logos regularly splattered across the frontpage.

The proof is the lack of new, interesting content.

That algorithm hasn't changed in weeks. There was a recent post on /r/technology about how new visitors are coming to reddit and only upvoting items on the front page and not up or down print new content.

Mostly, it is a matter of reddit hasn't been adjusting the hot algorithm to keep up with the growing userbase lately (I think they said it has been over a year since they last did that). Then, they did their temporary change to the softcap, which made it worse. After they reverted it, people started looking specifically for any differences and noticed the slow change that had been happening for a while.

Also, a couple interesting links.

Same here. I've seen a bunch of stuff in Facebook 2-3 days before I saw it Reddit this past week. That makes me concerned about how far behind I am on current events.

Somehow, some way, it's related to ad revenue. I guarantee it.

My tin-foil-hat conspiracy theory is that they changed it to give mods more time to remove posts criticizing specific reddit employees before they gain any traction. It changed just after the Ellen Pao shit show. Coincidence? I don't think the management likes it when the community fucks with internal affairs.

This was so true. A long time ago.

[–]master_of_deception 89ポイント90ポイント  (21子コメント)

9gag part is definitely still true, I agree on that. But 4chan no longer cares about memes, so that part has mostly stopped, except for porn and some gifs. The amount of content on Advice Animals and such subs makes it impossible to see it all, and Facebook takes them for their own now. And if it didn't hit front page on Reddit it doesn't mean its crap quality. So you could say Facebook mostly takes the leftovers, to some extent.

[–]master_of_deception 53ポイント54ポイント  (9子コメント)

You average sane person that has a life outside the Internet doesn't really care about memes.

I agree on that don't get me wrong. And that is where I believe the true power of 4chan or Reddit lies. You can still find some good news reports on this 2 sites, unfiltered and uncensored. On Reddit you can still find a lot of specialized subs, with a lot of experts sharing their knowledge and helping others. That is something Zuckerbook and 9gag will never have, and therefore I'm not afraid that Reddit is becoming shit. It is becoming shit for people that have default subs on and don't utilize everything Reddit is providing. And (don't kill me for this) Reddit is not all cats and puns as some obviously think.

They don't do image macros, but all they do is meme. Have you ever seen /tv/?

what does 4chan do now if they don't meme?

[–]Fox_In_A_Box_1122 2ポイント3ポイント  (1子コメント)

You will find some, but not nearly as much as before. And I was thinking of the classical meme layout, the random picture with captions you know, because obviously that is a definition of a meme this days.

I don't think you browse 4chan enough of you don't think they still empty memes.

It's because we're so busy re-posting material for quick karma. Infact I'll repost this same topic in a couple of days, just like you did! Thanks!

By a couple of days you mean a couple of hours, right?

Reddit homepage stale, same shit for 2 days on front page.

Oh, a couple of days it is.

This post is 2 hours old and on the front page. I think it's over.

It happens occasionally.

Not everything originates on Reddit, so it's likely that it was made for another site and it was then posted to Facebook before anyone posted it to Reddit if it'd happen at all.

While this is true, it used to be that things on the front page of Reddit would usually make its way to being posted all over Facebook. Lately, though, I can't remember the last time I've noticed that. In fact, I've been noticing things hitting the front page of Reddit 3-4 days after I've already seen it on Facebook.

Are we the new... MySpace?

Yes. Reddit is falling behind and I don't undestand why facebook is getting a second wind. Why hasn't facebook gone the way of MySpace and friendster.

Facebook is the 2nd most popular website in the world. Why do people keep saying it's dying?

I don't get it. Just because you don't use facebook anymore doesn't mean others stopped using it. myspace and friendster were never good sites. They never changed the way they appealed to people the way facebook did.

Lots of early websites busted back then. Facebook wasn't one of them. Saying facebook had anything in common with friendster and MySpace besides falling under the very broad category of social media is naive.

http://www.alexa.com/topsites

Why hasn't facebook gone the way of MySpace and friendster.

that probably isn't going to happen

Especially some videos on Facebook reach tens of millions of views before they get on Reddit.

Or even just imgur user gallery, crossposting from there to relevant subreddits is like half the posts of the biggest posters (gallowboob, ibleedorange, 1voice1life, isai76, me, sunbolts). Youtube->imgur->reddit is quite common for gifs.

Lobo you in a class of your own tho bro.

It's honestly such an embarrassing thing. I try to avoid showing my fiancé reposts, but (in the last month or so) I've been given the "Oh, I saw that earlier on Facebook" way too consistently. I just want to find funny pictures. At least most /r/aww pictures don't show up on Facebook.

It used to be that the "trending news" box on the right-hand side of Facebook would be roughly 2 days behind the Reddit front page. Now I'm seeing news in that box that should have, but hasn't appeared on Reddit at all.

How the fuck is it embarassing?

I think he meant it is embarrassing for Reddit because it used to be good at that.

[–]Blick 1

My boss, who doesn't own a computer, was emailed a comic on her work computer, printed it out, hung it on the door to the office, and the following week it was on the front page of Reddit.

That's about the time I realized everything has caught up to Reddit.

DAE Hate reddits new algorithm? Can't wait for this karma whoring train to leave the station

Especially ironic in this case because this post is two hours old and it's already in the top 20 on /r/all... and the oldest post on it at this stage is only 6 hours old. If the algorithm is broken... it's not broken right now.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised so far this weekend; made me wonder if they had fixed it.

Don't look at the age of the post. It's not that the post itself is old. The problem is how much time a post spends on the front page. Which is obviously more now, than it was a couple of month ago.

This guy has done the research and has proven you completely wrong. Staleness is a long term trend that was briefly exacerbated by the two weeks we spent with a new algorithm. Now we're using the same algorithm as last year and it's still stale, as it was before the new algorithm was tested.

https://www.reddit.com/user/redditresearcher

Except that you missed the point... the OLDEST post is 6 hours. If that post was 6 hours old, the longest it could theoretically have been up is 6 hours, in practice far less. The age of the post tells you how long it could possibly have been on the front page. There is literally no evidence that the time they spend there has changed... if you look at archives from a year before or a month before, you find basically the same distribution

someone looked at the data and that is simply not true

Only with some fucked up kerning.

Why is this important at all?

Because not all reddit content is OC? People see stuff on facebook/ twitter and post it here.

Or if you're the person who thinks reddit content only is OC then the facebook account is "stealing" from reddit and someone posted it here as a repost?

Because the FP is full of reposts nowadays

How do you think reddit gets its content, exactly?

The only people who think Reddit creates most of its content are people who just started using the site.

We must find the source

Ok where we will start here and make our way back!

Where did you get your comment from?

well duu every last bit of content is OC /s

Holy fuck. Can we stop the font page circle jerk already?

Is this about Justin Bieber's penis?

Can we collectively get over the fact that other websites exist and that Reddit isn't the only place posting original content? It's bloody tiresome.

If you look at the actual data, not only is the 'staleness' of the frontpage the same as before the algorithm change, it didn't even change that significantly during the change.

For all the "Science, yeah, bitches!", there sure is a lot of 'feels over reals' going on in regards to this.

I feel the frontpage is slower now, so it must be true, data be damned!

Facebook sucks and Reddit is great. Right guys. Give me karma.

Come on Reddit is just facebook for strangers.

I concur, I thought I had a gold nugget yesterday when I went to show the lady the Mozzarella-Stuffed Meatballs gif. Unimpressed she told me she saw it two days prior on Facebook.

Damn.. 2 days prior? Fuckin rekt

I am a front page reader. Sure, I have a few subreddits I view on-page, but I generally get my first look at newsworthy stuff here. Lately, I find my Reddit time dwindling. I wonder if it's a sideways ploy to reduce bandwidth requirements by turning away front page lurkers in favor of content makers and active community participants. I just can't figure out how they haven't fixed his yet.

Very original

Probably the same reason you're having relationship problems. Your wife spends too much time on Facebook.

It happens more often than people think. More than once have I seen a picture posted on Facebook long before I saw it on Reddit and all the comments on the Reddit post are like "inb4 this gets reposted to facebook.." etc.

Here's the thing, reddit - your "content creators" aren't creating content, they're getting it from somewhere else. It's hilarious to hear the accusations that Buzzfeed or some other site gets all of its content from reddit, when reddit is the biggest fucking content poacher on the internet.

I just showed this to my wife and she's all like "yeah I saw it on Facebook already"

i love that all of Reddit i slowly becoming /r/circlejerk..except porn, which by the way is marvellous

That's the first sign of the apocalypse.

Just sayin. Nut up, people. Hard times are coming.

I'm sure it was on reddit first. You just saw the repost.

Let me say it again - Reddit in its Autumn:

Fall has begun for Reddit's popularity

Because it was posted on Facebook before it was posted on Reddit?

sad to see people are reposting FROM facebook we have become 9gag

It's almost as if...more than one site can produce original content gasp

I honestly don't understand people complaining about "stale" reddit.. do these people not sub to things outside the default subs? For me, as a daily user, reddit went stale for maybe a week tops, then it went back to normal.

Is reddit actually as "stale" as some people are making it out to be?

These people are hopping on the bandwagon to bitch about a problem they can't prove exists.

People who expect the front page to be completely different every 2-3 hours are absurd. It has never changed that fast. If everything changed that fast huge stories would be missed by most people.

The problem is that people are spending more time on Reddit so they're getting bored.

And those same people just need something to circle the wagons about. What I've noticed getting worse lately is the constant bitching about everything from who's in charge to dreamed up things like this front page thing...

a problem they can't prove exists.

It's worse than that. It's a problem that we've conclusively proven does not exist.

https://www.reddit.com/user/redditresearcher

a problem they can't prove exists.

And not even a shred of evidence has been produced to show that the algorithm changed for anything more than a couple of days. It's textbook confirmation bias, something the people on this site usually seem to be aware of but I guess if it gives them an opportunity to bitch about the admins, critical thinking goes out the window.

It was probably on reddits front page for 2 days before you saw it.

My god this circlejerk is getting tired.

Are you people so bland that you can't come up with funny stuff yourself?

Why do people find it so hard to believe that things occur on the internet outside of Reddit?

Because that page "UNILAD" copies all content from here.
