As a Canadian that's the first thing I notice when watching US TV. So many ads for all sorts of drugs and the list of possible side effects is always comically long because you know they're legally obligated to list every single thing that showed up during clinical trial no matter how freakishly unlikely it is to happen.

You only know about ailments if some company spends hundreds of millions of dollars to tell you about a medicine for it on TV? Seriously?

You have a genuine conversation about your problems with a doctor. You ask about different drugs. You ask about side effects. Going to the doctor and saying "hey, I need Viagra. TV told me so. I think I'm diabetic and have Lupus and cancer too. TV told me so." does not lead to productive interaction with a doctor.

NC is pretty bad. Beer and wine in grocery stores but liquor has to be purchased from "da gubment" at ABC stores (alcoholic beverage control). And no alcohol sales before noon on Sunday because of Baby Jesus.

Last week I read a conversation on Facebook between some friends back home who were all sitting in their cars in grocery store parking lots waiting for the hour to click over so they could buy some brews before the Panthers game started. Ridiculous.

In Canada, ads for ED treatment are very vague. They can't come out and say it's for boner pills. So there's a Cialis ad that just shows an empty living room set up for movie night (which is presumably abandoned for some good ol' fucking).

I don't blame him for complaining one bit. He has 3 daughters with the oldest 9 yo (I think). No 9 yo girl needs to know what Viagra is for. It just puts parents in an awkward situation when suddenly ED commercial comes on. (because you know they will ask about it!)

I mean no personal offense, but I wonder how many of the folks making snarky asshole comments here have an 8-year-old son asking them what "erectile dysfunction" is, whenever we want to watch an MLB game on TV as a family.

Don't get me wrong -- I've got no problem that soon enough, all you all Millennial kids will rule the world. As a Gen-X guy, not only do I realize this, I look even forward to it.

But hopefully not until you get over yourselves enough to recognize the greater good. Baseball should be for everyone, not just Boomers who can't get it up and GenYs who think that its funny they can't. It should be for my pre-pubescent kid and me, too.
