I'm not insulting someone for having a different opinion from me. If someone posted that the Anabaptists have been responsible for every war in the history of mankind, I would call that person an idiot and a bigot. It wouldn't be because I disagree with their opinion. It is because that particular belief is indicative of being a bigot, and an unintelligent one. Similarly, I'm not calling people who dislike Savage 'losers' just because I like him and am insecure in my opinion. I think if nothing else, people would agree that I am very secure in my opinions. Too much so, if anything. I am saying that because Savage is so clearly a likable person, so clearly a winner in life, and given that the only people who seem to bristle with Savage are Ryan Shoulders types, I cannot think of a reason to dislike him aside from being a loser.

To expand on my point about bigotry, Savage is a special case wherein the only way you can find what he says to be douchey, holier than thou, etc. are if you do not live up to his standards of acceptable bhavior and ethics. Savage says things pretty plainly. He doesn't insult anyone gratuitously. He simply has a high standard of living and wants others to live up to that standard.

As someone who lives a pretty moral life, who is constantly striving to be better, and who wants to move toward being as objectively successful as Savage is, I hear what he's saying and agree. Damn right Stephen was being a little rat, trying to be sneaky and undermine Jeremy because Stephen can't play the game in a straight up way. He ignored morals and tried to hurt someone else for his own benefit. Savage rightly called him out for it.

ON the other hand, if you are someone who doesn't strive to be their best self, who is content with using others and slinking through life, who has settled for whatever they can achieve and doesn't attempt to go for everything, etc. I can definitely see how someone like Savage who sets such a high standard would be annoying. It has to suck that someone like him understands how to put your best, honest effort into things, and is successful with it. I imagine it would suck to then hear someone like Savage tear down Stephen for his lacking morals, because you can't help but think "Damn. I don't know if I even live up to Stephen, let alone Savage". I can imagine that would be hard.
