xselene-serenex asked: Hi, I'm not sure if it's just me or if I don't have enough facts but I am quite annoyed that the Disney film "Moana", which is very clearly borrowing from Maori legends (Moana is a Maori name, Maui is a Maori God etc) doesn't have any Maori actors cast. I myself am not Maori, but I am from New Zealand and we are all very deeply involved in Maori culture from a young age. I feel like everyone is all excited but it seems very bland as she is just a Pacifica character and has no specific origin

You shouldn’t come to us about this. Go to this-is-not-hawaiian with this since Moana is a Hawaiian princess. (btw how could you not be Maori but say you’re deeply involved in the culture? That’s like saying you’re white living in LA but you’re deeply involved with Black culture)
