    How does one measure the number of animals eaten? Does a dish of pork chops count as one animal? Even if the rest of the pig was used for something completely different and eaten by someone else? Or do they count mass of meat consumed and divide that by the mean mass of a live pig? This is in no way a serious fact/study, but if taken with skepticism and a bit of humor, it may be considered a curious "interpretation", I guess...

    Right? I eat a lot of small animals, oysters, fish, shrimp, birds, etc. There is no way I'm only eating 7,000 animals in my lifetime. I'm probably already well above that. But by volume my meat consumption is probably a little below average. This is a dumb study.

          The scientific consensus is that plants do not have nervous systems and are incapable of feeling pain. However, if they were to feel pain, consumption of meat would be a much larger injustice. The majority of the world's crops go towards animal feed. It takes a lot more plants to feed someone who eats meat than it does to feed someone who doesn't.

          On the slaughterhouse, animals are numbed before killed, at least is what the law requires on UE (except for religious killings). Birds and rabbits are electrocuted, pigs go in a CO2 gas chamber and ruminants get a blow from a retractible bullet on their brain's frontal lobe, making them unconscious. And of course, after that, main blood vessels are cut (which dependent on the species) and they die.

                  This statement is false and needs to be clarified. I rarely consume an entire animal myself, especially when talking about the big three -- cow, pig, and chicken.

                  I don't eat their bones, skin their hides, or eat things like brains, testicles, and livers.

                  Does "consume 7,000 animals" mean the meat I consume will have come from 7,000 different animals? That I will eat the meat equivalent of 7,000 worth of animals? The article tallies off the number of animals and with only 11 cows and 27 pigs I have to laugh considering I eat a cow's worth of meat every year as well as chomp through a few pigs.
