It was woman of the year, not like woman's lifetime achievement award or something, the time lines don't really mix, is there another way to phrase it? I don't think she came out as Caitlyn more than a year ago so maybe something like that.

Taking "privileged" out of there would be a big step in improving the joke and the response.

"White", "Privileged", "Male".....great Tumblr words, but not likely to inspire belly laughs from the masses.

I think that "rich white man" might work better. Not that 'privilege' isn't more accurate, just that it has more baggage/less wide understanding.

I thought we were all on board that Caitlyn Jenner is an amazing, beautiful woman who had the exquisite bravery of a butterfly flying against the wind

Had to double-check that this wasn't /r/tumblrinaction

They should write for Cracked. It isn't funny so she'll fit right in.

we are now through the looking glass

From what I've heard, more and more SJW's are showing up in amateur comedy stuff. Friends sister joined an improv class, friend went to a show and said most of the class was SJW's and it made for very odd 'comedy'.

I saw a comic refer to a donut as "gross and rapey" because it was D-shaped and called "The D".

SJWs seem to be mad at the joke.

TiA mocks this kind of crap...

You see how about half the comment section is comparing the joke to tumblr. It would probably gain the same reception anywhere you use the joke.

But I think if you change the wording a bit it would work. Instead of saying "privileged white male" just go with "man" the privileged part it's already deduced from the context of the joke. Re-stating it just makes the joke seem needlessly confrontational.

I think the tumblr/strawSJW obsession is a lot less common outside of reddit.

Why would you use such a blurry photo?

You got a bunch of odd comments on this one, but I thought it was funny. I think it's a strong joke and speaks more about us than it does about Caitlyn. And I imagine the delivery would help a lot, because tone of voice is going to get out a lot of nuance that you just can't get by reading it.

I don't like the joke because of the inherent internal tension. "Woman of the year" v. "Life time achievement".

Remember when comedians didn't have to worry about "nuance" and they could just tell a funny joke?

I think it's a great joke, I didn't get social justice commentary out of it. I got " the award is bunk, and this Jenner character is wacky" out of it.

Sensitive people don't make good comedians or crowds ya'll...

Oh no, but it's the evil SJW's that are too sensitive.

Why do redditors seem to just laugh at jokes about minorities and women but try to make a joke at a white dude's expense and then everyone has to just analyze that shit super hard.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but you weren't the first person to think of this. Christina Pazsitzky (comedian Tom Segura's wife) had this almost exact same thought and joke weeks ago on their podcast, Your Mom's House. I'm not saying you stole it, but it's already been done.

I'm just tossing this out there; I don't think it's gender that makes things difficult, it's more being ugly. Good looking people get stuff for free.

Well it's a good reason Jenner's fame comes on the back of something where good looks mean jack squat. You can't glide to a gold medal in the Olympic decathlon with just "good looks."

I don't think you get on a box of Wheaties by being ugly though. So I think good looks do count for quite a bit when it comes to fame; there are thousands of gold medalists from the United States and the media tends to latch on to the ones that it thinks it can sell to the public.

A privileged white female. It's about what's on the inside that counts, right Tumblr?

But... she... SHE'S A HERO!!

This garbage is not comedy. It's Tumblr on a stage. Fucking grow up.

Can someone explain this to me? It's not so much that I don't understand the joke, so much as I can't understand the sentences.

If you can't understand the sentences, how can you understand the joke?

I don't, I just wanted to give more information so that someone didn't just explain the back story of jenny mccarthy, but actually explained how all these sentences go together to make a joke.
