If public criticism amounts to crucifixion, what have Christians been doing to LGBT people all these years?

Last I checked, the Duck Dynasty clan, Chick Fil A, and Hobby Lobby were still around.

And extremely wealthy

[–]scumpileI'M A MINORITY TOO...

Chick Fil A made money on their whole thing.

Hate the politics, stay for the chicken.

Chik-Fil-A could come out in support of the Armenian Genocide and I'd still eat their food.

To be fair how often does anyone think of Armenia?

Chicken on the other hand...

I feel so bad every time I eat there but damn do I love chick-fil-a sauce.

From what I've read, they've made considerable strides in their support, though. They've come out in support of some LGBT pride stuff, and they've stopped (or at least reduced) donations to anti-LGBT entities.

This might all just be their way of getting back into the public's good graces as the cultural mentalities in the U.S. shift, but who cares as long as they're making progress.

And Brendan Eich is still alive.

And Black Conservatism never existed.

Agreed. It's more like using minorities as puppets.

[–]MojaveMilkman'murica 30

It's the political equivalent of "look, I have a black friend, I'm not racist!"

"Hey, it's me, Ben Carson. I don't like Muslims, but I'm black, so I'm not a racist!"

[–]SRScoSRSCO@AOL.COM 6

Unbelievable how many upvotes you're getting.

How do you explain Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Allen West, Mia Love, Michael Steele, Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas?

You think they're just puppets? You don't think they're capable of espousing conservative ideology because they're actually attracted to it? Why do you take away their self-determination?

smfh, that shit is racist as hell. ಠ_ಠ

I can't speak for the guy you responded to, but I'll say that they're welcome to their political activities as much as anyone is.

Black conservative, or someone who identifies as such raises some natural contrasts and questions when you consider some american conservative goals such as voter ID laws that are intended to suppress minority voting. Let alone the regular complaints or critiques among republicans that blacks or minority votes are won with promises of "free stuff".

It's not racist, I just don't get why any minority would subscribe to the conservatism linked with the Republican party. They are all just used as ways for white Republicans to say "Hey, i'm not racist because these people are minorities!"

It's fucking stupid. Fuck off.

Allen West, a BLACK conservative, says that the confederate flag debate is stupid! See, the confederate flag is not racist!!!

So their opinion is different and that makes them stupid?

I don't agree with them, but I respect their right to an opinion.

I mean people have stupid opinions all the time. I don't understand why people think opinions are this magical device free from any criticism.

Nope. The fact is that black conservatives are pushed by the Republican party as "token" minorities. White conservatives love seeing minorities act like "one of them". The same shit also applies to Indians like Bobby Jindal. Can there be black conservatives at the regular civilian level? Sure, why the fuck not? Don't pretend that the black (or other minority) conservatives/Repulicans at the top of the game aren't being used as ways to make the party look more inclusive.

Love how you're trying to make it look like i'm calling the black conservatives themselves stupid.

act like "one of them"

That phrase is also racist. One it's saying that a black person can't act a certain way because if they do then you will see them as faking it. Which means you think there is a specific way black people should act. Two you've also decided there is a certain way of acting that is "white".

No one has to pretend this isn't /r/conspiracy.

Also I'm not making it sound that way. That's exactly how it read. Now what you meant is different. Which I now know, but there are clearly other problems than just that.

White Conservatives love minorities who believe in the same bullshit that they do. Little anecdote here, I used to be a pretty hardcore atheist conservative, I was asked to join Young Conservatives by some classmates who were turned off when I let them know my religious views. I am of Pakistani descent. White Conservatives are seen as close minded, religious, exclusive, and most of all, racist. The "one of them" sentiment is true, because a minority who believes in the same shit that they believe in is their way of ridding themselves of the most toxic label (racist)

So let me understand you here. If a white conservative and a black conservative like each other it has nothing to do with the fact that they are conservative, but the fact that the one guy is black?

You also seem to think that all conservatives are the same. That's not true. All liberals aren't the same. Nobody in any political leaning is the same. They all have differences, but support similar causes. What's wrong with a black person saying "Hey I want a flat tax and small government". Apparently in your eyes that makes them a puppet.

White Conservatives are seen as close minded, religious, exclusive, and most of all, racist.

Have ever paused to think you aren't giving them a fair shake? Conservative is a very broad term, and it doesn't necessary have to mean the most hardcore members of the GOP.

Also how would you feel if I said all "Pakistani people are seen as closed minded, religious, exclusive, and most of all, racist." I'd imagine you would think that is a terrible thing to say. That's because it is.

They are all just used as ways for white Republicans to say "Hey, i'm not racist because these people are minorities!"

I get what you are saying but be real, if it was 100% white guys in the Republican party you would be saying that they aren't inconclusive enough or that they are a "good old boys club" or some other bullshit.

Rob Halford, the front man for Judas Priest who also happens to be gay defended Chick-fil-a on the grounds of free speech. Do you think that he is only said that to get approval from the Republicans?

[–]SRScoSRSCO@AOL.COM 0

Sorry that us progressives don't have a corner on all the black people. They own themselves, you know.

You're racist as hell bro.

Nope.

[–]SRScoSRSCO@AOL.COM 0

Nope? Black people don't own themselves? The democratic party does? Damn, you are so racist.

The Republican party's black politicians are there as symbols of inclusiveness and open mindedness towards minorities, that's pretty much it. The Nope was to the accusation of me being racist but i'm too lazy to quote on redditisfun.

You're fucking stupid as shit though. Are you really telling me that black politicians like Herman Cain or Allen West aren't used as puppets by the Republican party? If Ted Cruz or Donald Trump made such a statement about the Confederate flag, they'd get shit on by the media even more. Allen West saying such a thing doesn't make them look worse.

[–]SRScoSRSCO@AOL.COM 3

Actually, black members of the GOP are there because they voluntarily associate with the GOP. They've joined it, they've politicked for it, and they've won their elections fair and square. They weren't "appointed" for marketing purposes bro. That's not how politics works. Black people are actually people, bro. They aren't "symbols" of inclusiveness. They're themselves. Some happen to be conservative.

The Nope was to the accusation of me being racist but i'm too lazy to quote on redditisfun.

But you're being racist, tho. Ur literally saying that black people are incapable of associating with something you disagree with without being puppets.

You think they're just puppets? You don't think they're capable of espousing conservative ideology because they're actually attracted to it?

Well, both can be true. Their opinions are certainly held sincerely. But it's also true that they're . . . useful to the GOP, precisely because of the GOP's (ongoing) history of pandering to racists and disenfranchising minorities.

How is that statement not racist? Why can't there be black conservatives, and why can they only be puppets?

Are you pretending that the black conservatives at the top of the political game aren't being pushed by the Republican party as their method of looking inclusive and accepting?

Yes. People can have different opinions than me, and I know I'll never understand all their reasoning. So I can respect them while disagreeing. Which to me calling them a puppet is the exact opposite of that.

You're fucking naive if you think that. It's not as simple as "different opinions". A white, racist political party like the Republican party will use its minorities as figureheads of inclusiveness, nothing more.

It's now naive to respect the opinions of those you disagree with. That's what you're going with?

[–]SRScoSRSCO@AOL.COM -1

Only liberals are allowed to do that.

Yep, Obama is on the same political level of Allen West.

Liberals/Democrats don't need a minority puppet due to their years of pandering to just one group (whites, in the case of conservatives), because they didn't do such a thing. Cons/Reps do.

[–]SRScoSRSCO@AOL.COM -1

Quit calling black people "minority puppets."

Allen West is a puppet used by the Republican party. Obama is not. There's a difference. Obama in the Republican party would be him making controversial statements regarding race or religion and not getting as much flak for it, as Allen West did. Obama in the Democrat party is fucking PRESIDENT.

[–]Nulono 0

Duck dynasty clan are all politicians and are doing very well and are very well liked by millions of people.

Chic-fil-a are opening all over america still, have millions of people who eat there and even the liberal new York city had people sitting outside for days before it opened waiting to eat it.

Black conservatives are so crucified and hated that one of them is a front runner for president of the united states, and the other 6 of them are all loved and admired by conservatives.

The duggar clan are conservatives and we're loved and admired even after it came out that they covered up an incest scandal and are still rich and we'll loved by millions despite being absolutely shitty people.

What's weird is that I don't see anyone from the "ethics in games journalism!!!" crowd crying about how Fallout 4 is destined to receive 8/10 scores at worst because of all the hype surrounding it.

[–]FistocracyThis HERO cat fought in Iraq! 10

That's because most of the Fallout 4 reviews will be written by poor oppressed men who only give it favourable reviews because that's how the review game is played, rather than by AMBULATORY VAGINAS THAT WANT TO TURN US ALL INTO GIRLYMEN or whatever the fuck it is that gamergaters are terrified of.

Eh. This sub leans more toward SRS which has a lot of overlap with Ghazi. Plus the fact that people loooove to conflate anything they don't like with conservatism here (I.E. GamerGate) means I might as well have supported Trump for President just by saying something even tangentially positive about GamerGate.

It's really bizarre because I haven't seen any correlation at all between dyed hair and radical political/social views. It's extra weird with gators because women with dyed hair is the sort of thing that shows up all the time in games, so you'd think they'd love that.

Lastly ... dyed hair is hot so they can go fuck right the fuck off

It represents Conservative Jews, maybe?

It's probably referring to people who fully support the Israeli government. Especially Netanyahu himself, who many American conservatives view as a heroic martyr who's always getting unfairly slammed by the ol' Lamestream media.

It says conservative under it, so right wing Jews.

[–]FistocracyThis HERO cat fought in Iraq! 3

It's conservative jews, who get included for the same reason that "black conservatives" do: the author (and his audience) think that liberals are supposed to be unquestioningly in favour of diversity and minorities, so by pointing out our lack of support for conservative blacks and jews they think they're tripping us up and catching our hypocrisy.
