It's frustrating how people just want to get a nice footage of an area and random jerks try to catch their drones and destroy/steal them.

Also annoying to have 5 rich doofus amateur drone pilots buzzing around your ears with these things at every fucking event. Fourth of July, anybody?

I must be the only dude that has yet to see a drone in real life.

You aren't alone, I still haven't seen one.

Me neither, but I'm not one to go out and do things

The only reason I've seen a drone in real life is because I bought one.

Never seen anybody else's drone, except for the guy I bought mine from.

I was laying on the beach alone with someone at night and a random drone just started hovering above our heads. It stayed there twitching around for a good five minutes. It was just uncomfortable.

Drones only buzz if they're like 5 feet from you...

if they're like 5 feet from you...

That's the issue with these amateur pilots. They don't really know anything about safety requirements, or the reliability of those cheap motors.

cheap motors.

cheap, rich, make up your mind

The quality of the motors can be cheap while the drone itself is stupid expensive. There are plenty of products out there that use crap parts but charge an arm and a leg

[–]down_vote_magnet 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

Cheap gadget, over-priced for rich people.

Too cheap for a motor, too expensive for a toy.

[–]Airazz 1

It's kind of like Apple, in a way. Many of their products use standard components which are fairly cheap, yet somehow the end product is stupidly expensive.

On, and in some quadcopters almost nothing is replaceable, so you must buy a whole new thing if you want to fly again. Yet buying all the same components separately and building your own quad would cost you a quarter of what they charge, and then you could replace a burned out motor or a broken frame.

Don't get me started on Beats Headphones...

Everyone is an amateur pilot... unless their main job is to fly these things

[–]Airazz 1

Sorry, poor wording. They're not even amateurs, they're usually novice flyers who think that the only difference between them and pro pilots is that pro pilots get paid.

Actually, in this case, the use of 'amateur' implies lack of experience. So by saying 'amateur drone pilot'; they're distinguishing them as less skilled and knowledgeable than an experienced drone pilot.

So, the rankings would be Amateur < Experienced < Professional

Amateur < Experienced < Professional < Racers

"Inexperienced", "Green", "Noob", "Beginner".... Language, eh? How does it work?

Fuck man ive been wanting to buy one for years now but all these people make me scared to do it. Its too expensive to get an actual pilots liscence and plane and this is the closest i'll probably ever get to that... I mean i gotta be responsible with it but these people make it seem like a nuisance on sight

[–]Airazz 0

You'll be fine if you keep in mind that your drone is a bunch of tiny buzzing saw blades and any motor could die at any time.

Don't ever fly above people or things that you like.

There are pro-grade motors and electronics for those who actually need to fly above people, to film movies and stuff. They cost tens of thousands. Reliability costs a lot.

If you can't afford it, then be prepared for the unavoidable failure and make sure that you cause as little damage as possible.

Alright! Thanks. I dont plan on flying over people as knowing from having a cheaper quadcopter they can derp out at any time. I havent crashed into people before but i can see how it would. Thabks for the tips though!

Say that to the people on the playground 50 meters away keeping half the neighborhood awake.

Thats completely not true. Most quad drones are loud as fuck.

Because most people don't even balance the props. They don't even read the manual.

The guy flying the drone knew the guy who cast the line. You can see him looking at him in the first few frames. He also seems way to calm for someone who's drone had just be fished outta thin air. Then, after one more spiral you see the guy with the fishing rod just let it real out.

I'm not saying the gif tried to conceal this, I think you may have missed it.

He's not the guy flying the drone. Source video

That drone pilot seems like exactly the kind of person that's really exhausting to be around

Who's the guy piloting it? As far as I can see it's no one on the pier.

The guy in the white facing the camera seems to have a remote in his hands.

I think that guy is baiting a hook, not using a remote. Remotes are typically decently large, especially ones with the kind of range this quadcopter seems to have.

Oh yeah, it may well be. I don't know if it's large enough to be a TX with that great a range. I'm no pro though and technology always surprises me.

It's a lifeless, animated object with no directly visible source of ownership within the grasp of people with means with which to affect it. People are gonna fuck with it.

It's frustrating how people just want to have a nice day out and have a fucking drone buzzing around them.

I consider people around me to be annoying on a dock. If flying drones are legal, whether this annoys you or not, why should you be able to do this shit?

Again, I find a lot of things people do in public on wharfs and docks annoying, but they have the right to do it.

There are laws in Australia that dont allow you to fly your drones around public areas. Im pretty surprised nowhere else have these laws.

In the US we have them banned from all National Parks, and I think some state's ban them at State Parks as well. I know in Minnesota they are. I see no drone signs when I go visit the State Parks all the time. Provided they aren't hurting anyone, I honestly don't see the problem with flying them around. They are kinda fun to watch.

It's frustrating how people just want to live their lives and some douche with a drone decides to film them without asking permission...

[–]miserable_failure 5ポイント6ポイント  (0子コメント)

Uh, you're in a public space. You don't get 'right to privacy'.

I don't have to ask you permission. It's public space. There is no argument to be had that I cannot film you in public as everything done in public is by default public and not private.

There really annoying dude. People shouldn't fly them in public, quiet places. Like where people like to fish.

Piers on a public beach are far from a "quiet place".
