SWG Reborn

Star Wars Galaxies Reborn is a New Game Enhancements Star Wars Galaxies Game Server.

Community Service Announcement
Lately there has been some discussion, and concern regarding how in-game support will be handled. I want to shed some light, and also outline our course of action for how this will be handled.

Firstly, our Game Masters will be recruited from the community. Those that are interested in applying may choose to apply through the normal means. The process for becoming a GM is a longer and more intensive process than all of the others, expect a wait of 7-14 days before hearing from us.

SWG:R GMs will be anonymous, they will have player accounts as everyone else. It simply cannot be expected that anyone NOT play the game we all are here to enjoy. Interaction between the accounts will be strictly forbidden and logged, even in the event of the non-GM account having an actual issue, they will need to submit a ticket like everyone else and request help from another GM.

As far as operation and procedures go, these will not be public knowledge. As a community, we need to stop perpetuating the drama, and I will not add fuel to any fires by allowing our procedures to be scrutinized by outside parties. If you have any concerns, as always we will hear them. GMs are here to assist the community, and shouldn't be the number one priority of anyone but the SWG:R Staff.

There will be a system in place to report abuse by submitting an email to Abuse@SWGReborn.com. These will be handled on a case by case basis by the CS Lead.

We need to come together as a community and grow, GMs should simply be an afterthought. There to help when you need it, but not interfering. There will not be any sort of abuse, and we will have systems in place to monitor, and limit our Game Masters. This is how it is, if it needs to be revised, it will be.

Hello,

I would like to take a moment to clarify a myriad of speculation and put to rest numerous rumors that have been circulating the community within the last few hours. It's no surprise to anyone that we've had a spout of drama. Frankly, the Star Wars Galaxies community has always been filled with drama, and it's always interesting to see the twists and turns it creates. That being said, Seefo, a Developer for SWG Reborn has decided to leave the staff.

Foremost, please know that no one made Seefo leave. Seefo and I both started SWG Reborn with the goal of reviving the Star Wars Galaxies community through launching a game server that currently sits at Publish 16.8. I believe that we did this successfully. Where Seefo and I came to a disagreement was on something he called his "founding principal" of not allowing "GM intervention". So much so, that the only thing that would be dealt with on the game server was exploiting.

Seefo and I had a fundamental disagreement on this ideology. He insisted not only on the idea of No GM Intervention, but also on that he was to have "final decision" power over every decision made, even if it was not in the best interest of the overall community. This would mean that no matter what everyone else felt, he would make the decision solely based on his opinion. You can imagine that with as much of a team effort as SWG Reborn is, we did not like that philosophy.

Because of this fundamental disagreement, Seefo and I got into several arguments. Most notably, this weekend when Seefo demanded that I quit the staff because of how insistent I was on him giving up his sole power. I first requested that he join a voting group of staff, rather than stick like glue to his idea of total power. He did not accept this. Thankfully, we have a strong community and they all joined together to help us resolve this issue. They accomplished this by allowing us to bring in neutral parties who helped temporarily resolve the conflict.

It was...
Server is live!

I would like to add, that at no point was the stability of the community, and by extension, the future of SWG:R threatened. We are 100% stable and committed to bringing back the game we love.
Hello everyone!

I wanted to let everyone know that we now have SWGReborn-TC2 up and running on our new server hardware, so check it out if you haven't. Secondly, I wanted to give everyone a brief idea of what is happening now and in the future in regards to development.

We are still focusing on stability (i.e. fixing bugs that cause crashes, and overall stability, i.e. no lag). Many people have been asking about the missing NPCs and other game bugs (like the DWB being locked), we are aware of these issues and will not start attempting to fix these until after the server is stable (goal: weeks worth of uptime). I understand many of you want to start on the legacy and all, and we apologize for the inconvenience this causes. In the mean time, feel free to do quests on Mustafar or Kashyyyk, the majority of those quests work fine, I believe Mustafar is mostly working aside from a taking lava damage in places where you shouldn't (ex: a bridge). Many people have also been curious when we will begin to update the game and add newer content (like expertise, profession, and other general content updates like RLS and etc), and currently it is planned to begin work on those features after we have fixed the majority of bugs (like missing NPCs and etc), you can expect these changes to begin after we have launched our live server. Please do not ask for an ETA on the live server or on any of the aforementioned goals because we do not have one.

We are also aware of peoples worries of a wipe. I must remind you all these these servers are a place to test game mechanics and functionality so that we can improve them, sometimes a wipe will be necessary. I would like to let you all know though, that we do not have any plans to wipe the server -- but they may happen. For now, you can expect TC2 to last awhile without wipes, unless something breaks.

Finally, I want to let everyone know that during our stress test of the new Test Center yesterday, we reached...
