The Coordinator of Services for Individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing coordinates services for all deaf and hard of hearing students, faculty, employees and visitors to the University. Services may include: American Sign Language/spoken English interpreting, real-time captioning or CART services as well as ensuring adaptive equipment when necessary.
Sign Language (ASL) and CART Services - In order to streamline the process to request services, a local interpreting/CART referral agency, Partners Interpreting (PI) http://www.partnersinterpreting.com/, has been successfully managing interpreter and CART requests for Harvard affiliates and guests who are Deaf & Hard of Hearing. We encourage you to utilize this resource. Please let UDS know if you experience any difficulties when working with PI.
To Request ASL or CART Services – Complete the PI Request Form with as much information as possible. Submit the form to PI via email services@partnersinterpreting.com or call to discuss by phone 508.699.1477. PI will then help guide you through their process and answer any questions you may have. After services are provided PI will send the invoice directly to you or your designee. Kindly look over all invoices for accuracy and forward to the appropriate office/personnel within your school for payment processing. Should you have any questions about an invoice please feel free to contact PI directly.
Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) - Assistive Listening Devices may be available for loan. Arrangements should be made three weeks in advance, if possible. Technology loan may be arranged with sufficient notice with University Disability Services. Individuals or programs needing such equipment are encouraged to complete an Effective Communication Request Form and email the form to disabilityservices@harvard.edu.
