Prior to this they raised 10k for the same charity - which is one of the reasons they went to the baseball game to celebrate. People love to judsge, but they are usually gone by the time the reality shows it was unwarranted.

It's probably their Philanthropy. For some reason people don't seen to realize the amount of philanthropic work sororities and fraternities do.

what were they being judged for - being young girls?

They were being judged for taking selfies with hot dogs, duck faces, etc, and ignoring the baseball game at a time when there was an announcement TO take selfies for a Tmobile promotion "Tweet your strongest fan photo #AZDATASTRONGFAN."

Everyone was taking selfies. They were just focused on because of doing duck faces, and holding foot long hotdogs while being young women "transfixed" on their phones. And of course everyone hates sorority girls (whom are a thousand times better than frat guys).

Sad hypocrisy all around.

While I agree that sorority's don't deserve all the hate they get, you can just judge all frat guys. By that logic all sorority sisters are bullying, stupid blonds that ridicule anyone not blond, blue eyed, and from a rich family.

Little bit of a generalization there. My frat had some of the most genuine and caring people I've ever met. They're some good guys who like to have a lot fun.

Yeah, that was a weird little bit of immature bitterness thrown into that paragraph... "Who, BY THE WAY, are a thoooouuuussaaaand times better than those gross frat guys!"

And then he says 'hypocrisy all around'. How ironic.

Hypocrisy all around indeed.

What?! I didn't know that. It's completely different with that context.

If you watch the actual video there wasn't really any 'judging' going on. The commentators were joking about how the girls were more focused on their phones than the game. It was lighthearted, no one was attacked, and anyone with any sense of social etiquette could tell that the commentators weren't seriously insulting the girls. There was a lull in the game, so they filled the void with some (in my opinion) hilarious commentary on social norms that don't make sense.

It wasn't the commentators, it was the internet commenters (reddit, really) that got pretty ridiculous. You can even scroll down to the bottom of these comments. Luckily they all seem downvoted this time.

I saw some of the comments, at least when it was first posted. It seemed light hearted jest. Making fun of people. Lot of the judgements seemed downvoted. Obviously that must of changed as it got popular.

Shame though, people minding their business. Makes you wonder what half those people judging are doing with their lives that very moment they were making ugly comments.

Turn away now, this comment section is hell

Oh how bad could i- Oh.....Oh

Only thread I've really felt the need to say this too. It's nothing but a wastelands down there

I'm guessing by the lack of responses Reddit doesn't feel much shame for their judgment, so I'll go ahead and say it -- I judged you girls too harshly. This was a very, very nice gesture on your part.

I don't get why anybody judged them in the first place. I mean, they went to a game, gave the team some money, and had a good time. Who loses there?

Welcome to the world where we make fun of women walking to the bathroom in groups, putting on too much makeup, putting on too little makeup, the clothes they wear, the clothes they don't wear, for being on a diet, for not being on a diet, for drinking, for not drinking. Welcome to the world of double standards.

No. Welcome to the world where we judge everybody for everything they do.

I thought the segment with the announcers heckling them was funny i'm sure they had a good time. But for some reason people are creating issues to be talked about.

..why did you judge them at all? I don't know what they were doing wrong, who the hell cares?

Thaaaaank you.

This is what I didn't understand, it wasn't anything personal, I don't think anyone was actually judging them they just happened to be the butt of the joke at that moment.

Some people got really mad. Like we're really fuming about this. Ugly people hate pretty people I guess.

Seriously. There were death threats (upvoted) in the comments section.

Death threats?! Over selfies?!

Taking selfies is the worst. Savagely ridiculing someone for doing it is totally acceptable and encouraged though. /s

Because Reddit loves hating things that women like.

loves hating women

Well I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. Psychologists have said that selfies, while not causing anything, are the embodiment of self centered thinking. Also, it's certainly true that smartphones stop us from interacting with our friends, even when they're with them.

So it's not necessarily that these girls are the problem, but they're representative of problems in modern culture.

Okay, I'm done playing devil's advocate. I only liked the original video because of the top notch banter from the commentators.

When I saw the video I just thought "They're pretty funny". I don't get why there's so much controversy going on on both sides. I didn't think the announcers were /that/ bad either, they weren't calling them stupid or anything (I guess the line about parenting might be interpreted as such, but it seemed in good fun).

I didn't read anything about it, but on the surface of it, they do seem pretty self-involved in that photo. Regardless of whose decision it was to give those tickets to others who could use the night out, it was the right thing to do.

I didn't judge them. I didn't even read the comments of that one thread, because I knew it would be full of reddits typical shit-hurling and I just couldn't even that day. I judged reddit and I was right.

Holy fuck how nice they are! I found the original video funny, and now I know they're good people too. Damn that's good.

The dark haired chick in the right bottom is the best one if you aks me.
