Pausing netflix to comment right now. reddit and other sites have totally ruined my attention span. I cannot hardly ever enjoy an hour television show muchless a movie without it taking 3 nights or me giving up halfway through. I really do miss just digesting a mediocre film now and then without the urge to be distracted.

      Self defense cases are so fucked up when there are no witnesses. It's free reign to make up any story they want. I'm not saying he's lying, but the fact that he wasn't wearing his gun earlier and I'm sorry he didn't even try to do CPR really makes me doubt him. I would have liked to have seen more about his wounds, which wasn't really discussed much. They didn't look very deep and were weirdly close together but I'm not an ME.

      Oh and it was totally messed up how he used the kid to recreate the scene. You don't think having your kid re-enact his mother's death will have any negative effect? That's nuts. It seems being an FBI agent helped him when it should have made people more weary of him due to his expertise in these matters.

      I just watched this with my wife as well, though she fell asleep. I feel like if a non-FBI agent did the same thing, shooting his wife 4 times for coming at them with a knife, they'd be fucked. The guy managed to never fire a round for almost ~2 decades on the job, but couldn't handle that moment and had to use his "training"? There was nothing compelling on his side other than his own word, yet it worked.

      Well said. Using his kid definitely paints him in a bad light, not to mention the gun and the fact that they suspected the knife they had wasn't the one that cut him. I'd also be curious to see if there were text message exchanges with the girlfriend or anyone else.

      I thought the judge was pretty fair about it in the end but I didn't think the male prosecutor did a good job of making the state's case.

          Wow, a thread where i'm the odd one out! It drives me utterly mad when someone pulls out their phone while watching a movie or tv show. Or if someone tries to talk with me while im watching (both skype and in person). Im watching the show/movie because I want to ignore other stuff. Its visual media. Whats the point of even having it on when you arent watching it?! You'll miss stuff, and the dialogue won't sink in as well. You'll find yourself not really understanding what you just "watched" and for some of you, I bet you'll call it a bad show/movie, only because you don't realize you've missed over half of it.

          met with a friend last weekend to eating a bit and then watch a movie. during that approximatly two hours, she couldn't have more than ten minutes without doing something on her phone. argh!

          (also I even know someone who regularly misses stuff from shows/movies they watch. you talk about an episode and he goes "what? when did that happen?" - usually if it was something which wasn't spoken but was only "told" visually)

                Yep. Narcos for me. So much of the dialogue is in Spanish and I'm not that good to pick it up by ear. I'm ok, but I still had to go back a lot when I realized I hadn't been looking at the subtitles for 5 minutes and had no idea what was being said. Great series, though.

                I can relate to this more than anything I've seen on Reddit in the short time I've been here.

                The big problem I have is that I'll start watching a show, and when the intro credits start rolling, I hop on r/all. Inevitably I pause the show, and then 30 minutes later I look up from my phone and think, "oh shit, that's right, I was watching Arrested Development."
