NO. NEVER. IF YOU USE A NON-FREE PROGRAM, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. (Not just freedom for yourself, but for ME. If you use a non-free program, you are helping someone develop a non-free program which does jack shit for everyone else wanting to create/control/develop said program to be better. It seriously hurts EVERYONE so fk anyone using any non-free production program. It's personal.)

I bet you're definitely using Nouveau on that 970. :^)

Nouveau doesn't even work on the 9xx range. I have a GTX960 and it makes it a definite asspain to distrohop.

That was his point you genius. My card doesn't, and probably never will have open firmware to make Mesa work possible.

But that's okay, because it does one thing my AMD card doesn't: FUCKING WORK.

Mhm. I would like a response on why you thought a 970 was necessary. I can't think of any FOSS games that require such a powerful card.

Nvidia is still an enemy of open source, by supporting them you support non-free and proprietary tech. AMD on the other hand assists in the development of open equivalents for many proprietary technologies Nvidia likes to use like Freesync (vs. Gsync), Mantle/Vulkan (vs. DirectX) and OpenCL (vs. CUDA).

As for AMD cards not working, that is bullshit from the year 2008 right there. My R9 280 works fine for games and works with both FOSS driver and fglrx.

But even if it wouldn't work that shouldn't be an issue to you since you clearly don't play any games that are non-free software.

So you definitely don't use a smartphone then.
