I've said this before and I'll get downvoted for it again: this sub is obsessed with bathtubs. As soon as there's a bathtub y'all flip your shit. I fucking hate bathtubs. Baths are ridiculous wastes of time, and it ruins the room for anything else. You gonna have a friend or two for a cocktail in there now? No, because there's a fucking bathtub in the middle of the room, and it's weird to drink a mojito gathered around a goddamn tub. You're taking a beautiful room and/or view and putting something in it that you can only use 15 minutes a day (that's after you run a fucking bath, and if you want to stay longer you have to try to keep adding hot water... it's like waiting for a fucking oscillating fan to come back around except with pruny fingers). How about a fucking nice chair where you can read a book? You'll get a lot more use out of that, and if you decide you want to do something else with the room you can just pick it up and move it instead of calling a fucking plumber and ripping up the goddamn floor. This is like fucking diamonds--I don't know who the bathtub equivalent of DeBeers is, but they have convinced all you fuckers that bathtubs=luxury and magic. No. They're fucking stupid, overpriced, underused, and if you ever want to get rid of it you're going to get reamed.

I could go on, but you probably get the picture.

Eh it's fine if you don't like bathtubs but you're being awfully militant about it. Not sure how bathtubs can ruin a room that's specifically set aside for... bathing.... / showering, obviously, but what I'm saying is t that it's not MEANT to be a living/entertaining room.

I super enjoy my baths and make it a special time where I can relax and spend quiet time to myself. It's nice to unwind at the end of the day in a bath with some scented candles and/or incense. I spend more than fifteen minutes per bath, and adding more hot water isn't such a huge unwieldy task like you're making it out to be (taps are awesome -- long gone are the days of having to boil your own bath water and transport it from the kitchens). I also read my books in my bath, and watch TV/movies in the bath, and sometimes have snacks and drinks too.

I think what might be bothering me about your overly enthusiastic rant is that you're making it out to be some kind of class-based thing...? like we're all poor people wishing we had bathtubs only because rich people have them or something. comparing it to DeBeers, saying people who like bathtubs like it because it seems luxurious, it's overpriced, underused, etc. I guess I'm trying to defend us bath-lovers who don't like baths because of associations with these things but because we just like baths. And the better the space for a nicer bath, obviously the better we like it. I hate a lot of the bathtubs that get posted here, expensive/fancy or otherwise, because they would just be bad for a good bath.

this is my bathtub btw... doesn't even take up much more space than would be used if it was just a standing shower.

But it's a bathroom. Why would I have people over for drinks and chill in the bathroom?

[–]snugglebuttt -3ポイント-2ポイント  (2子コメント)

No man. You're not getting it. You put the bathroom somewhere out of the way and don't spend a shit ton of money on it. You spend money on a fancy drawing room with a view.

to each there own though. I would agree but whatevs

I think most of the over-top-bathtubs we see in here aren't in homes that were particularly limited by budget.

My guess is they spent a shit-ton of money on most every room in their house.

Haha--yeah when you have a ridiculous amount of cash go for it =)

Oh, snugglebuttt, I think you just need to go an snuggle some buttt. The bathtubs won't hurt you, anymore.

I agree that they're silly, but my wife likes taking baths. I take one at most like once a year. Whatever floats your boat.

It's a fucking bathroom numbskull. Edit: you were not saying you wanted to have people over for cocktails in the bathroom, but it kind of sounded like it

A Ferrari is a car, but you're going to pay $1mil for it and drive it once a year...

[–]GoodShowDM 5ポイント6ポイント  (1子コメント)

If you can afford a $1 million car you can afford to drive it whenever you want. In fact, thats probably who would have tgis tub. The tub is not just for one. It's for someone with an awesome house, awesome life, and a sexy woman who will no doubt be seduced by his tub. And yea, this guy has time to chill in the tub if he wants. Admittedly I read your comment as insanity - why would anyone invite people over to the batgroom , but I see what you were getting at. I don't take batha either, but if I had that tub, house, income, car, life. I'd fucking take baths.

that you can only use 15 minutes a day

Nah, you have a shower everyday. The tub you use maybe twice a year.

Actually now I realize that's a lie. I wash the dog in our tub fortnightly.

I'm with you. Bathtubs are pretty overrated. Especially the egg tubs everyone here still has a boner for, 3 years after the trend has peaked. I feel the same way about stand-alone hot tubs (I'm fine when its next to a pool, where the water cycles). By itself though there's just not enough water in them to keep it clean without a lot of chemistry, and those slippery plastics are nasty to sit your ass on IMO.

But there is an answer. Allow me to introduce the Hot Tug. This solves all the problems with baths and turns bath time into an adventure with friends and drinking.

Now that's some absurdity I can get behind. Let's just keep it out of the home.

I feel like there was an episode of Episodes that had Beverly and Sean actually running a bath and making fun of how long it took to fill up.

It's called a bath room. You're looking for a sitting room.
