Do you want to get your house egged, cause that's how you get your house egged?

Seriously, I hope the homeowners are insured, because I'm in disguise and shit is about to go down. This kind of crap is lawn ornament through the window level.
You don't like Halloween, turn your lights off. Don't tell children they are going to Hell for dressing up and getting free candy.

Turn the lights off? If I don't own night vision gear, how can I have dinner in my dining room which is directly across from the front door? What if I get headaches from viewing my very bright tv in a pitch dark room, and I need to have a light on to avoid that?

I understand the kids wanna trick or treat, but there should be more ways to avoid getting your door getting knocked on every 5 minutes.

I meant porch lights.
Nobody should be at your door if your front door is closed and your porch lights are off. If they are, you are not obligated to answer.

Already going to hell, might as well egg the bastard's house

Or worse, some of the older kids where I grew up would have burned the pile of cards and run... which would have lit up the chair they were on, and may have gotten out of control.

I'm a grown as man and if I hear about this crap in my neighborhood I'm going out there to hurl some yokes.

I came here to type this exact comment. Get out of my head!!! lol

I have heard they have Full sized Candy Bars in Hell for Halloween...

I gave out full sized bars 2 years in a row, first year I got 10 kids, at the end I gave the last 2 5 each. Second year I got 4 kids. Let's just say ppl at work were happy for the free candy. I give up and am not doing it this year.

And the homeowners allow you to reach into that deep bowl and grab all you want!

That's also completely wrong. Halloween came from All Hallow's Eve which is the night before All Saint's Day, which is a Christian Holiday. Those people had no idea wtf they were talking about.

I thought it was a pagan holiday that was Christianized.

Pretty sure that's the case for every Christian holiday.

Hell based bible-thumpers rarely do.

That may be true but that's been a long time ago and unlike Christmas its no longer a Christian holdiay. Times has changed and Halloween has shifted into becoming a more "scary" event. When you think of Halloween you don't think of christianity, you think about scaring people, getting candy, dressing up, and going to parties. Its completely different.

Doesn't mean you can't partake in Halloween and be a Christian, as a Christian, I know I'm just having fun, I'm not worshiping demons or anything when I'm out having fun on Halloween.

Well Halloween was always supposed to be 'scary' in order to scare off the demons from coming out that night.

Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween

However, in the Celtic-speaking regions they were "particularly appropriate to a night upon which supernatural beings were said to be abroad and could be imitated or warded off by human wanderers".

No... no it wasn't...

[–]Not_dead_yet_fred 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Well do you ever see any demons on Halloween?

People's ignorance amazes me. Halloween is the ye olde English contraction for All Hallow's Eve, being the day before All Hallow's Day, or All Saints Day. By its name Halloween is actually a Christian holiday, and the entire All Saints Day/All Souls Day Hallowtide is a Christian holiday to remember the dead.

Sure Samhain and other pagan festivals influenced it, but no more so than Christmas and Easter.

My favorite part of this was as a kid, going to an evangelical church, they refused to have a Halloween party, but instead had a harvest party, making it automatically more pagan

Why would you expect money in there?

[–]Jim_Gaffigans_bacon 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

sounds like they provided the tinder for a 'hell simulation'... not me of course, but some little ghoul.

I would have laughed lol.

One time when I was about 10 I dressed as a dinosaur for Halloween and went into a pharmacy (it was late and I thought they'd appreciate a visit). The lady there just screamed at us "Out Devil, out! You are not welcome here!" Jesus Christ.

I hope you wrecked their shit.

"...so if you're Satan, ring the bell for candy!"

If the person who made this read the cards, does that mean they're going to hell too?

Ah, the ol' halloween paradox.

Assuming you remember what house it was (if this actually happened) you should mail a bunch of glitter to them with the same note. Glitter gets everywhere

If you want proof, I still have the card and I can take a picture.

I want proof of you sending it back in the mail with a ton of glitter lol.

Every kid takes one paper then drops it on their lawn. I'm sure they'd be thrilled to clean it up!

Next year: "How about we just shut the lights off and not spout our bigoted beliefs to children just looking to have fun."

I really cannot stand the "christians" that give all the others a bad name. If you don't want to participate in Halloween, just keep the light off.

Trick or Treating in 2005...sigh. I think I'm too old to be on this subreddit.

Right!? I was already done by 1985.

About the same age man. He-man and transformers outfits. Think TMNT was starting to come around. The original ones not this CGI bullshit.

ii remember 2005 halloween. i trick or treated even though it was pouring. At the time i thought it was good idea but people didnt give out candy except a few and even then they werent expecting people to ring doorbells at that time lol

I had already been paying taxes and car insurance and all that shit. I could maybe relate if after he got all his candy a bunch of guys in suits came and took it all away and left him with the wrappers.

Christian here. That was a total douche move.

Edit: Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I'm perfectly capable of celebrating it without gutting a cat in the middle of the woods!

"And here is your full size snicker bar, hail Satan"

If they had any dog shit lying on the front lawn it would have ended up on the house or their car.

Every year I put a chair outside my door with an empty bowl and a sign saying just take one or two.

I bet this person is a joy to be around.

Must have been a Baptist house.

For a religious sect claiming to be Christian I swear Baptist are satanist. All they talk about is hell, fire and brimstone, and how awful we are as people and are destined to go there.

Jesus was about teaching love, compassion, and all the good things people should do for themselves and others. He didn't go around "HEY YOU! You're going to hell! "

I am a Baptist. I think you got us mixed up with Evangelicals and Pentecostals. But every religion has their share of crazies.

I may stand corrected.

Hi, another Baptist here. And a Halloween enthusiast. Yeah, the fundamentalists weird us out too! At least we're not jumping through windows, am I right Pentecosts? Lol jk

When my kid was little, a lady on the block tried this. I could tell because her door was surrounded by angry parents yelling at one judgmental old lady who was clearly insane. Hers was some anti-abortion pamphlet with pictures.

Yeah.

/r/thathappened

I am not sure if anyone is stupid enough to do that and think that they won't get their property vandalized.

Le super funny!
