Yay bodycams!

That's my takeaway.

They should just livestream this stuff

I'd watch that twitch channel

The subscription money and donations can go to more bodycams

It could work.

Until the criminals start using the livestream to screen-cheat.

Just put it on like a 2 hour delay.

then you can't tell the cop what to do!

Oh. Dear. God.

We'd be watching 10 hours of the poor officer getting in and out of his vehicle repeatedly.

Move left, move left, select, up, up, down, up, a, b, start, up...

Twitch plays the police. They did it with Dark Souls.

Twitch plays law enforcement

That shit is good for both sides of the equation as far as I'm concerned.

The issue is we need to ensure they can't turn them off or "lose" data when it's convenient for them.

Fuck man, if you told me they're mandatory tomorrow but they're not being tracked and it's easy for them to "lose" data I'd still jump on that right away. I see no downsides over that versus what the current exchange is.

Yeah. And at the very least, the more they use the cameras as evidence, the more people will be very suspect when its lost.

"Where's the video? You guys always have video!"

Another benefit is hilarious footage like this. We need a TV series that just shows awesome footage of people being stopped by cops

We did, for like decades. It was called Cops. But people stopped watching it and now it's somewhere on cable.

Spike. It's still a great show and they've been using bodycams once in a while in a few of the new episodes.

Wow they still make new episodes?

Yep. They were in Omaha last year and one of the camera crew was shot and killed in the crossfire. First fella to die while filming I believe.

Dude robbing the store had one of those ultra realistic airsoft handguns with a gas blowback slide.

So wait, that means a police officer shot him? What episode was that?

I'm not sure if it was ever aired but yes a police officer did shoot him. I'm on mobile at work or I'd link the info.

Sounds like North O to me.

Its a super cheap show to produce, I'm sure. Just need a camera man to go on ride alongs, and an editor.

Well G4 showed Cops in 4 hours blocks between the 4 hour block of Star Trek TNG and the 4 hour block of Cheaters. I think G4 just became Spike 2 though.

I still watch Cops. It's hilarious.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic and pretending not to know one of the most popular tv series of all time.

You're right, cops does exist

What should we call this show???

Police Diaries; Hard Knock Street Stories. Seems simple and right to the point

Coppers!

Filmed on location with good cop/bad cop

[–]Canadian_Weatherman 9ポイント10ポイント  (0子コメント)

I think this is a good demonstration of how bodycams are great for cops too. Seriously worth the investment.

I love the perspective. The louder somebody gets, the more they are probably guilty.

"Bruh you gonna get punched in your mother fucking face I swear to god." then she says, "I didn't threaten to punch you in the face..."

Thankfully there is body cameras lol.

This is how my wife argues. Then claims I'm the crazy one for making shut up. I'm installing looping audio recorders in the house as soon as I can afford. Tired of this bs

Why would you stay with someone who gaslights you like that? That is actually a form of emotional/mental abuse. Lawyer up and leave her ass.

I read one sentence about one side of a relationship that I know absolutely nothing about otherwise. DIVORCE!

Love that ending. "Ooo a gun."

Officers are trained to verbally announce when they encounter a gun, that way the other officers at the scene are aware that you're handling a firearm and there possibly may be more. His statement sounded like a mix between him making that announcement and genuinely being surprised that he just found a gun.

From the conversation that took place I assume he expected to find her bud, but he found her fucking illegal handgun instead.

But being pulled over for a violation, stinking of pot, and having a gun just chilling in the backseat are all bullshit, it must be because she is black.

How dare they arrest her for these illegal things.

Advice to live by: if you want to get away with breaking the big laws, don't break the little ones. If you are driving around stinking of weed while in possession of a weapon, don't drive a car with a light out, don't speed, come to full stops at stop signs, etc.

Good point. Joel Rifkin got caught because he was driving without license plates (with a dead hooker in the trunk). David Berkowitz got caught because of a parking ticket.

Timothy McVeigh (of OKC bombing infamy) was caught for an expired license plate.

Too true. Or at least try to limit yourself to breaking one law at a time.

No, its cause I'm black. If I wasn't black I wouldn't be smoking no weed and I wouldn't be having no gun! YOU DAM CRACKER COPS SO RACISTS!!!

They found weed, a bong, a scale, and a loaded gun in the car by the way.

Why. Don't smoke pot . But if you do, why are you carrying any more than you need to get high? Leave the rest of that shit at home. Why are you smoking up in your car? Why are you driving around with a fucking bong instead of a small pipe? Why are you carrying a gun around when you're breaking a bunch of other laws? Don't deal. But why deal out of a fucking car. And if you are doing all of that, why the fuck are you driving around with your lights out, or with a car that you know isn't compliant with the rules of he road? Jesus, people.

I learned in high school that one illegal thing at a time will generally keep you out of this type of situation. Going on a roadie? Take a car with working lights. Carrying an illegal gun? Don't go on a roadie driving a broken car.

What's a roadie?

If it's driving while high, you just shouldn't fucking do it.

It will make you drive like the elderly.

I used to hang out with a dude that hang a backpack with all his smoking stuff in it and would drive around with it ALL THE TIME. It was annoying as fuck. Like literally a bag with like 3 dry pipes, 1-2 bubblers, and a bong...and this fucker would literally pull out a bottle of water, pour out and clean his bong, fill it up, pack it up, and take rips while cruising around a neighborhood. Like he would either be almost at a friend's house or just leaving a friend's house and would do this. It was annoying as shit, because it was like dude...just wait and smoke at a persons house or just do it at home, literally anyway is better to smoke a bong than in your car while cruising around a neighborhood. Of course you know where this story is going.....he did end up getting caught for it (along with a bunch of other stuff through the years). But whatever..c'est la vie.

i know that the gun charge is already gonna fuck her pretty bad but having a scale just ensured that she gets charged for distribution which is gonna fuck her over even more.

Depending on what state you live in, none of that's illegal or all of that's illegal.

Eh, could be legal. Jurisdiction-dependent, you don't really need a permit to have a gun in your car.

Ohio = No person shall knowingly transport or have a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle in such a manner that the firearm is accessible to the operator or any passenger without leaving the vehicle.

This is true in Ohio if you do not have a CCW. Regradless, it is also the law that you have to inform the officer that you are carrying. Which she failed to do.

She's also a minor, which rules out her having a CCW permit period.

And now a felon, which will preclude her from carrying at all.

I believe the guns have to be stored and separated in the cabin from ammunition regardless of having a CCW, but I left OH when I was 20, so I never carried a pistol when I was there.

genuine excitement. before finding this was just an, oh great, now we have to drive this belligerent cunt back to the station and lock her up for the night. after finding it, it's more of an, oh boy, this bitch's gettin a felony!

It's like he found an Easter egg.

If it comes back matching some other unsolved crime.... He kind of did. But never the less, one less gun in the hands of someone who's clearly demonstrated they shouldn't have one.

This happened a couple of blocks from my place, saw it on the local police Facebook page. Their description:

Officers trying to do their job in a professional manner are greeted with belligerence and hostility. Officers conducting saturation patrols, for OVI enforcement, pulled over a motorist on Mayfield Road operating a vehicle without its lights on. Upon approach to the vehicle the odor of marijuana was detected. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered two small bags of marijuana, 3 scales, a water bong, and a loaded handgun under the drivers seat. The juvenile female was cited for OVI with other criminal charges pending in juvenile court. (Caution the video contains foul language)

Old enough to carry a gun under your seat (illegally), old enough to be charged as an adult. She was at least 16, old enough to know better.

Surprised they posted a video of a juvenile.

Public record, that's the whole point of body cams.

There are generally different protocols for juveniles, far be it from me to say exactly what those are though.

That's something I'm curious about. What about officers conducting a search of a house? Is the tape still public record if it shows detailed contents of your apartment? Catches some of the content on your computer monitors? Opened letters lying on a table?

Are there laws in the US to handle this and if so, in what way?

The juvenile wasn't identified or visible.

Old enough to vote? Old enough to have a say in which laws there are? Old enough to stand for office? Old enough to consent?

Age is an imperfect distinction, but it's the best we have.

The US is a bit of an oddity here. They are one of two countries not yet to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Broadly speaking, it would be difficult if not impossible to reconcile trying children as adults with these internationally acknowledged rights.

Age is an imperfect distinction, but it's the best we have.

Age is a functional compromise because it just wouldn't be efficient to judge every single person on their capacity to understand every thing they might encounter.

When someone under 18 gets tried as an adult for doing something especially heinous or irresponsible, the effort is put in to actually scrutinize their actions to judge whether or not they should have known better.

anyone with an understanding of child development or neuroscience would highly disagree with you. Adolescents' understanding of themselves and the world is often underdeveloped or skewed.

While that's true, they're not stupid. It's hard to make an argument that she was doing those things because she she was an adolescent. The line is not as hard as you make it sound, since you could have 18 year olds with no greater development being tried as adults. I'm not saying you're wrong or that your opinion on it is wrong by the way, just pointing out some issues you could have trying to defend that argument.

I don't know, man. They're pretty stupid.

I completely agree with you. My point was that it seams silly to make judgment statements regarding whether or not she was old enough to know better and that she should be tried as an adult, when that is the main reason we separate juveniles and adults; because they don't fully understand the consequences of their actions or they would greater benefit from another course of action. Especially people trying to use extreme cases where adolescents are tried as adults after committing murder. Those examples are silly in comparison to this situation. The woman didn't pull the gun in them or get physically violent from what the video showed. Stupidity has nothing to do with it. If she's grown up in a community or socioeconomical status where her actions shown here are as casual as shoplifting to suburban kids (which she could be, we don't necessarily have that information), trying her as an adult and putting her away is not going to change her perception of society or her behavior.

Also, I thought it was ruled that marijuana odor was not probable cause to search someone's property.

Classic Mayfield Taco Bell speed trap

When I found out I was in a car that was driving a drug dealer to meet a buyer, I noped the fuck out of that car as fast as I could. I was 10 miles away from my house, said I'd get a ride home, wound up walking for 3 hours. Not risking that crap.

these dudes could have been shot. they know this. that's what people need to understand when they get pulled over.

ahahahahahahhaa "ON EVERYTHING. ON EVERYTHING"

"Am I being detained" only works when they have no reason to be fucking with you. If the car is full of weed smell-it's probably a good idea to use some compliance.

lmao exactly.... She somehow things that's the secret code to get away from police when you're caught red handed.

Actual Cop

Here in NC just the present smell of pot gets us in the car. Might not find any...you might of just smoked or had a friend that smoked but the sheer smell gets you in the car.

From experience, people who use the race card quickly have usually done something wrong and is used a defensive mechanism. Departments are looking to be politically correct now due to all the things that have been happen (furg/balt) so just using the race card and formally complaining can make the Officers life hell so many Officers dont even try anymore. Willing to answer more if anyone is interested.

I'm from Colorado and our officers do the same. The interesting thing here is it's generally just a weight check and sobriety assesment. I got pulled over last week and was had my bag weighed (only an eighth). I was allowed to leave with my weed and it's a bizarre feeling especially since I got a possession charge 5 years ago.

Wait, so if someone pulls the race card on cops even if they're completely in the wrong you guys can't do anything about the illegal activity because the race card is too much to deal with?

If that's the case that's very unfortunate.

Just trying to clarify, thanks

Where can I apply to get a race card

Costco.

You can paint yourself brown and start talking funny but people will probably just call you a racist. Bunch of oversensitive jerks.

Hey, I don't know any cops in real life and I'm curious what your point of view is on the cases like Eric Garner and Ferguson. I think that most cops are good people who want to do the right thing but also that blacks are arrested disproportionately, so am I wrong about something or how does that happen? What needs to change for the police in your opinion if anything?

"You don't know where I was. I said I was at a party and there could have been Indians, they were smoking too. You don't know shit"

"they were smoking too"

Admission of guilt right there.

So by her reasoning they could've seen a corpse in the back but that's not what they pulled her over for so they can't do anything? :s

This is just sad how fast people play the race card

Fast? She ran through a bunch of other bullshit first and dropped it when she freaked out completely and realized she was about to get seriously busted. Obvious desperation. It's not like a barista screwed up her latte and she was like "oh it's cause I'm black my order doesn't matter does it?"

I mean although she went through other reasons first I find going from relatively calmly asking "why am I being detained?" to screaming about how it is because she is black in under two minutes to be fast.

Coincidentally that also lines up pretty well with the verbal announcements of being put in jail by the officers. Or maybe it isn't coincidence.

We are talking about the same person who responded to a cop about the smell of weed, with "you don't know where the weed came from" and "they were smoking too!!"

I can't believe the fact that she played the race card surprises you.

The fact that she used it at all when it so obviously wasn't an issue is despicable.

Especially considering she was trying to use it to cover actual illegal activity.

I've seen the race card come out pretty quick before, but that may have been a new record

Oh what? You assume she's making records because she's black and smells like weed?

oh boy

[–]Nattylight_Murica 6ポイント7ポイント  (4子コメント)

That's the straw that breaks the camel's back. Everyone knows "boy" is a derogatory term towards blacks.

Had a dude accost me to buy his mixtape as I was walking to class one-day. I talked with him politely for about 2 minutes until I had to break it off, so I said "sorry I just don't listen to rap it isn't for me". He gets all wired up and says "oh so it's rap just because I'm black" I said, "No because I've never heard the word mixtape used outside the context of it being rap music" (in the context of today's music). He shut up real fast

My brother does the same thing and it pisses me off to no end. He'll be speeding and get pulled over and blame it on the fact that he's Mexican.

1) You are pulled over for a traffic stop -- you are therefore being detained

2) You are obligated to get out of your car when being detained

3) Stop being a disrepectful cunt, especially when you are guilty as fuck.

Holy shit people, this is not difficult. This bitch is embarrassing.

Black privilege - being able to use the race card willy nilly.

"I'm high, driving in a way that an officer took notice, acting aggressive and hostile, have an illegal gun in my vehicle, and stink like weed. These racist cops have no justification for arresting me other than I'm black!!!"

God I hate racists who use their own skin colour as the reason for everything.

Doesn't really make sense to call it a "privilege" when it gained her nothing at all in this case. Anyone can freak out and yell nonsense at the cops.

Careful with that "wrongthink" because it might get you banned in some subreddits. Unfortunately, there are many far left-wing mods that are always looking for new and creative ways to censor opinions they disagree with.

some many subreddits

First I was bracing myself for raging against the cops...

Then...the more she talked, the more I wanted them to taze her.

is taze not a real word?

I think it would be tase because it's a taser they would use. Taser stands for Thomas A Swift's Electric Rifle, after a fictional character the inventor liked as a kid.

hahaha....race card denied!

she thinks "am I being detained?" gets her out of trouble. she had no clue what to do when he said "yes". they don't have to tell her why either.

Ah another angry, racist, sexist black woman off the street.

this is right by my house and these cops handled it amazingly. im amazed they kept their cool

"You're racist!" buries face in palm of my hands

Black folk make me look bad.

She went from calm to squaky chicken voice. 🐔

fuck yes, body cams. some cops are dirtbags. the rest are fucking saints.

There is probably some middle ground too...

Why do all crimes in every city take place on Euclid avenue or Martin Luther King street?

South Euclid on Mayfield Road, but close enough.

And at the end, the cop is a magician. Amazing!

"For whet? FOR WHEEEEEEET?"

Do black people have any better go-to argument than pulling the race card? It seems like anytime they get backed into a corner by officers they go straight for the "you racist ass bitch" response when they can't think of legitimate argument.

Pro tip: When a police officer says that they smell weed in your car, don't say "You don't know where the weed came from."

"YOU RACIST ASS BITCH" First thing she said when she lost control, it's sad to see when people, specially black people use the race card at the first sign of trouble, this is portrayed as a joke in movies but it is a sad reality...

[–]ALL_OF_THE_FURRIES 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

Something my dad taught me, you want to have infinitely less trouble with the police? Well, step one, don't be breaking the law. But step two, if you do get pulled over "how can I help you, officer?" Seriously, it's that simple. They're people, give them some respect, they'll give it back. Complete these two simple steps, and you're good to go!

Das jus dey culcha.

this is why bodycams are awesome. shit would've ended way differently if not for the bodycam

How so? Seems like a fairly routine stop.

Without a body cam it would be this:

Cop pulled over black folks, claimed they smelled weed, said a bunch of racist bullshit and then planted a gun and weed on them. Reddit would then ejaculate a river and pass out.

People like this woman who pull the race card like this are why no one takes it seriously anymore.

Thanks for this, I needed a good laugh today.

Like a kid in a highly tense, dangerous candy shop. "Oooh! A gun!"

Man that chick snapped.

"Oooh gun!" Hahahahahahaha classic.

........oh..there's a gun....Lol!

Yup, you ARE being detained! And charged.....have a good day!

What a completely reasonable lady.

Edit: "Oooh gun!"

These bodycam videos are making me like cops more and more everyday!

Who's teaching black people their rights nowadays?

It annoys me so much when i hear someone throwing the term racist around. Dumb bitch.

I'm so happy those cops had those bodycams on. This couldve been another damn protest because those racist ass cops made up the "smelling weed" bit and planted a gun in a poor black womans car!

[–]Ayresx 4

I wanted to see her run so they could at least taze her a little
