If you don't control your own private keys, you don't control your life. I've been in the bitcoin game for a few years now and I've seen the highs and the lows. I have experienced the power of decentralization and the power of the blockchain firsthand. Today, I stumbled on what I think is the true (private?) key to mass adoption.
I hereby propose that we not only encourage the decentralization of trust and value on the network, but that decentralize the control of our private keys. From this point forward, if we really want bitcoin to resonate with the late majority, we need to find a way to get at least 6 Trezors in the hands of each bit-citizen. In this way, not only can we guarantee m of n multisig on each individual Trezor, but we can also guarantee the safety and future of our children - something that the government cannot claim.
I've seen a lot of talk about the broc and mac and cheese of bitcoin, but I truly feel that the killer app that will usher in a new era of mass adoption is increasing the quantity of bitcoin hardware wallets per person. I'm surprised this thought hasn't been echoed in the forums/mailing lists more often. Serious replies only.
