I think it is pretty coincidental that NASA Announces a "new" mars discovery just three days before the release of the new film "the martian"

The breaking news relating water having been discovered on mars is no breaking news, in fact a conference was not needed at all. It was a well known fact that mars had water on it, so this conference comes as a huge disappointment. But thats not what this conference was about! the conference was actually a huge movie production deal, get people pumped about Sci-Fi for the upcoming release of Ridley Scott's new movie "the martian".
