That's fantastic. I marvel at the art of being able to make a serious and cutting criticism while still getting huge laughs.

the best thing about Jerry Seinfeld is that he was openly banging highschoolers well into his 40s. guy is like a real life Matthew Maconahey from Dazed and Confused

"What's the deal with high school chicks? I get older and they stay the same."

[–]redditpentester 9ポイント10ポイント  (1子コメント)

That's the best thing about him?

I think he had a show too, I forget what it was called.

Wait, so was it just one 17 year old or did he regularly date teenagers? There's a huge difference. It's possible he just had a strong connection to someone that happened to be half his age.

South Park did an entire episode around giving awards to comedians. http://youtu.be/uOTPzDuFsg8

If everyone across America would stop obsessing about these pointless award ceremonies, they would go away.

[–]magnora7 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

That's true of most stupid things we do in America. We're like a giant slow-motion train wreck that can't stop looking at ourselves.

award ceremonies, the kardashians, et all

[–]molyporphing 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

As if the mainstream will ever understand how stupid it is to receive awards for everything. Kids nowadays wants awards merely for passing tests at school.

I feel like his best joke was the one that didn't get any laughs. "I want to thank HBO for this special... important... uh, significant thing in uh... my life." It was totally a show of how he's obligated to say that and doesn't care at all

Right, but this was just a comedy special filmed in 2005, it wasn't a legit award show. I think it was a way to work out some of his post-"Seinfield" discomfort with the public eye.

That was great, and stupid. You have no idea how long it took me to write this, but I did it.

I can't stand award shows. With the Grammys, there are so many better works of music that are never nominated simply because they aren't popular, and most of the "musicians" don't write their songs but go up and accept them as if they did. Just like the Emmys. Louie is objectively one of the best shows on television but gets beaten out for a low brow comedy every year.

I often feel like Jerry is in his own personal hell where people laugh at everything he says even when he's trying to be serious. His life is now a sitcom and he can't turn off the laugh track.

It's interesting, when teenagers and young adults complain about things in life and bs on things, people say it's just an emo phase and that their brooding little bitches. Comedians do it and make a career out out of it, they become comedic geniuses.

But at the beginning, he says he's quoting Carl Reiner.

I don't know how brutally honest he was. As a great comedian, he took nuggets of truth and exaggerated them to the point that they were hilarious. I am not sure that is brutally honest as much as it is brutally funny.

Your completely right. People in this thread don't seem to understand the fact that this was stand up comedy, not a serious rant.
