See title. Wayseer has been removed by the admins for violating reddit rules regarding the transfer of the subreddit, and I've got pending invites out to the old mod team. Those of you who helped us out in the interim (specifically the other mods at /r/Shivers), thank you. You guys stepped up in a big way, and I'll be in touch shortly.

With this behind us though, one important thing I think to take away is that Frisson is an immensely personal and individual experience, and that has informed one of the key rules here. We don't outright remove things that may not cause frisson for us as a mod team because we know that it could cause frisson for others. I wanted to use this as a chance to reach out to you guys, the subscribers here and ask - what do you think? What do you think of the subreddit, the rules, the ways things are? We are at a bit of a crossroads here and while I'm confident we can push forward into a good future I wanted to take the chance to sit down and figure out where everyone wants to go.

He replied to me saying he was happy he got me removed as a mod too, so a little bit more lol. I knew my time was temporary at best until the old mods got the sub back. /u/wayseer made me the only mod that could do anything besides modmail so I did my best. Glad the old mods have it back now though.

Honestly, I think the sub was working fine.

Maybe a few extra guidelines to avoid people whining about "how they didn't get frisson from this post" or "this is not frisson because..." (which I've seen happening with music submissions a lot).

The nature of the sub should respect different triggers and different approaches to the same outcome and how that same diversity is what makes the sub and its contributions stronger.

Also, I'm glad this charade is over.

I'm just a lurker, but personally I'd like it if people gave some indication of the genre of music for music posts. Not everyone likes the same type of music, and if you're not enjoying it you're unlikely to feel the frisson at the crescendo.

I know music genres are not defined exclusive groups, so I wouldn't expect the mods to enforce accuracy, but some indication would be nice. In a perfect world I'd be able to tell if something was Enya-esque before clicking it :)

That being said the flair is enough for me to be able to filter out music when I don't feel like wading through it, so it's not a big deal. I'd much rather waste a little time on posts that aren't my cup of tea than see anything be restricted.

Xseveredx or whatever posted something that sounded like it could be bipolar or some other mental disorder. Along the lines of he's cutting ties with work, friends, giving away his money blah blah. Moving somewhere to find himself. He was closing the subreddit. Everybody asked why not pass it along to other mods, and keep it open. I don't think we heard anything else from xthingiex, but it seems like he passed it to wayseer in exchange for money, which is a violation of reddit rules. Both are now shadowbanned.

I hate seeing all the r/baaaw worthy images at the top, but I'm assuming if they're getting votes, then people are experiencing actual frisson from them(not, you know, the feelz)...so I can't really complain?

It seems any sub that has images, those are the ones that always get upvoted the most. It's a small amount of info in a short period of time, people are more keen to upvoting those compared to videos, because by the time the person is done watching, they've either left the sub or moved on the next video / post.

It didn't seem at all like he was trying to sell it but I guess that would be the right way to go about selling something you aren't meant to sell. If his post was honest I don't think he would have sold it seeing he didn't much care for money.

Well he had little to no activity on his posting, I'm sure his knack for reddit went away and figured out he could sell subreddits on some shady site.

His last posts were months / a year old -- I'm pretty confident the last thing he would be worried about is how content is being submitted on this subreddit

I think their planned scenario was:

  • Prepare to shut the subreddit down in 48hrs

  • Have Wayseer be the "one who saved /r/frisson" (lol backfired)

  • Add different moderators who are in on the scam.
    & Give some moderators restricted permissions to avoid a potential fallout

Also saying xSeveredx was in Tijuana, when Admins can check his IP logs from his last activity from subreddit, probably tipped them off that they were full of shit. But let's be honest, they looked shady af the whole time.

I love this sub and come here often but can we have some sort of day/time/theme where more uplifting posts are encouraged? I do understand that intense sadness and morbid ideas can trigger frisson - I get frisson from those too. I just want to be able to come to this sub without bracing myself for a potentially depressing top post every time.

I'm so glad to see this sub get back on track and I'm really glad the sketchy air had been cleared. I know Carlinha had mentioned something when they resigned as mod, that it felt really shady, and I couldn't help but agree.

That said, can someone kind of list what happened? I know there was some denying permissions for mods and some wacky shit, but then I missed out on a lot.

First off, great to hear things are all sorted with the sub. It may be bigger than it used to be but it's still a hidden gem. Second, I do have one suggestion.

Similar to the idea of removing comments that say "but this didn't give me frisson!": any thoughts on removing comments that are just calling posts fake/bullshit?

I've seen the comment section of some really great submissions turn into dumb fake/not fake arguments and considering this isn't a sub for true stories only, I genuinely don't care. IMO those posts add very little to the discussion, similar to not frisson/it's a repost/etc.
