Throwaway for obvious reasons:

Whenever I was 19, I went to an obgyn for a normal well woman's exam. The whole work up was involved; pap, STD panel drawn, etc. I didn't expect any bad outcomes. I had only had two partners, both of whom I trusted.

About a week later, I went to a job interview downtown. I was SO excited because I was told I had the position before I left the building.

I decided to go to the library downtown to browse/find a new book in my optimistic and proud state of mind. As soon as I walked in, I received a phone call from the doctor's office. I walked into one of the tiny phone rooms to the right. I would have never known those rooms even existed had I not been standing five feet away. The nurse gave me the news. I was diagnosed with HSV 2. I felt like that little room was spinning. I couldn't concentrate on anything else that woman said to me. It could have been worse. It could have been HIV.

But, it would have been nice to have noticed something like this and been able to research it. It may have helped with my self esteem over the following years.

This is great to see and I hope it helps anyone that feels like they're alone, like I did.

Never seen a teen in there. Aids alcohol drugs and especially hygiene is great for the homeless people that make 90% of the patrons though.
