I can't understand why they would attack a woman when their name, face and plate number is all on the app. Like he forgot? I bet it didn't help his driver rating either.

If only there was a group of people who would benefit from Uber getting bad press... I honestly think nothing is beyond the taxi industry.

Are you suggesting that the taxi industry planted an uber driver to sexually assault someone while working for uber? Are you fucking mad?

Conspiracy theorists and their weird-ass theories lol

Unless they plant both a driver and a fake victim to say it happened. Taxi drivers really hate uber and while this is unlikely, it is not out of the realm of possibility.

Even still though Uber has shown to hold its ground immediately revealing the drivers information whereas Beck just says "Sorry about that, by the way Uber is the antichrist" and does little to improve their drivers.

We could argue the legitimacy of the reports filed against Uber, but still...the drivers info is revealed and if a crime was in fact committed the investigation is over a lot quicker.

I agree with you.

I never took a cab in years but I have never tried Uber. However, I have to give it up to Uber for dumping all the information they have on the person to the news and police.

[–]TXTCLA55Queen Street West 3

Thanks. I've taken both, Uber more so in the states than Toronto, but really I've seen little difference in terms of service...I mean so long as I get from A to B in a decent time, whatever. What I like about Uber is this accountability, should I have a problem I already have the drivers info and the rest is a matter for the proper contact.

Taxis may be "legitimate", but they're by no means consistent in terms of customer service and accountability.

Who wants to bet this guy was formerly a Beck driver?

[–]TXTCLA55Queen Street West 0

That would be pretty impressive considering my current employment and the fact my G1 expired in July.

the fact my G1 expired in July.

Classic Beck drivers.

[–]TXTCLA55Queen Street West -1

lol, looks like the jig is up.

recklessly drives away through a red light

[–]PassThePoutineYonge and Eglinton 4

What are you trying to suggest?

There is a massive conspiracy against uber by taxi companies. uber drivers couldnt possibly do anything wrong.

How does this have a single upvote?

Why are people like you so absurdly obsessed with uber?

Seriously, you're claiming a media conspiracy against the company? The hell is wrong with you?

[–]PassThePoutineYonge and Eglinton 10

It sounds to me like he was clearly suggesting that the taxi industry was hiring people to join Uber and then sexually assault women.

Why are you obsessed with defending taxi's? Why do you resort to insults when people have a different opinion?

You dont have an "opinion", you are speculating wildly for no reason. I'm not defending taxis, they didnt have anything to do with this, you are the one who brought them into the discussion because your have a hard-on for uber and I am telling you you're wrong. That is what's happening here, please comprehend and spare yourself further embarrassment.

I insulted you because you are are repeatedly saying stupid things. Its not rocket science.

Please explain how pointing out that the timing of two vague crimes allegedly committed by UberX drivers the week before city hall determines the legal status of Uber is "wild speculation".

Bonus points if you can do it without resorting to insults.

Two "vague" crimes? And now all you're doing is pointing out the timing? Back-tracking won't help you here.

Its really hard not to insult you, everything you say is so absurd i still find it hard to believe you're acutally an adult.

So no, you can't respond without resorting to insults.

"Sexual Assault" is vague. Or do you not know what that term means?

Ooooooohh ok, you were just saying that sexual assault is a broad legal term now? Amazing.

Excited to hear what you'll come up with next.

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked

Maybe uber hired a guy to do it to make it look like the taxi industry hired a guy to do it to make uber look bad but they get good press cause people blame the taxi industry anyway?

We need a score counter on the side bar to track the Beck/uber threads.

IT HAS BEEN 0 DAYS SINCE THE LAST BECK/UBER THREAD

[–]ZombieRonReaganScarborough Junction -2

Taxi Rapist Scoreboard?

[–]PassThePoutineYonge and Eglinton 6

Uber Canada spokesperson Susie Heath said. “When we first learned of this on June 20, we reached out to police immediately and removed the driver from our platform...”

Well... That's why they can't find these guys. They should have left the accounts active. And then the next time they sign on, the police can just call him up for a ride.

I wonder if taxi or uber drivers have a higher propensity for committing this type of crime than any other public facing service job.

So we hear about sexual assaults with uber drivers and not taxi drivers. I personally would prefer to put my girl into a service that did remove those drivers.

He very well could have been a regular uber taxi and not an uber x.

There are background checks on can drivers

*puts on tinfoil hat *

What if these guys used to be/are related to actual taxi drivers and are sacrificing themselves for "the greater taxi good" by attempting to sabotage Uber's reputation?

Or their just shitbirds who used to be cab drivers, and seeing more money in uber jumped ship where they continue to be shitbirds.

Or they're just shitty people who are Uber drivers that have no affiliation with the taxi industry at all. Any of these things could be the case.

Or what if these people are being falsely accused to make Uber look dangerous.

*makes you a matching tinfoil hat *

Do they not have cameras in their car?

taxis have cameras

Do you have a camera in your car?

Well if I Uber, I would

If I was taking money for rides, I probably would, to prevent false accusations and deter robbery. They aren't very expensive, cheaper than insurance.
