So, i'm trying to mine up the comedy gold of a cost benefit analysis of why/when/where this... thing... becomes actually useful (probably never, but hey, i'm bored). I plan to post it here for the laughs, and need data: specifically, what would the power draw be of this thing when running?
I know that a basic Raspberry Pi B+ can run on a 5V 1A power brick, as Adafruit sells those power supplies. So that figures out to be 5W maximum.
If anyone has better data than that, I would love to hear it. Thanks!
Oh, and I also need to figure out how much Bit Coin the thing returns, and how quickly the difficulty adjustment reduces the Bit Coin generated to a satoshi a day or less. I figure at that level, it effectively becomes an overly complicated and expensive space heater incapable of making useful transactions. Better off re-purposing the machine then. (I know the shield would be worthless, but there is no reason to waste a perfectly good Raspberry Pi.)
Also, where can I find information on when transactions become "dust", and what the transaction fees are? Thanks again guys.
