FAQ

What isn't supposed to be on this archive/what should I report?

There aren't a ton of rules for a site that hosts /d/, so use good personal judgement.
However, you should always report:

- CP: This is an absolute, report immediately, even if you aren't sure if its CP.
- Lolicon / Shotacon: If the image specifically states the contents involve underage men/women during sexual acts then please report it.
- Advertising: Advertising serves no purpose and clogs down the site. Report if you feel it doesn't serve any purpose.

What is this place?

How do I request for a thread to be archived?

You don't. All threads from the boards are automatically archived.

What is the source of this image?

If you're searching for an image, try clicking on the [iqdb], [google], or [saucenao] link, they will search for the image you're looking for. iqdb searches various boorus, Google searches its own databases, and SauceNao searches pixiv.

What is FoolFuuka?

FoolFuuka is the software that Love is Over and other archiving websites use. It's an imageboard archiver (currently it only supports 4chan archival) with advanced options, like user/image/posts statistics and graphs, search, image search internal replies, etc.

FoolFuuka is inspired by/based on the Fuuka archiver.

What other boards are archived? / What other archives are there?

Fuuka is open-source, so anyone is able to set up an archive and archive a board. As such, there can be no complete list.

List of archives known to me:

Automated archives, save all threads from the boards they archive, either running Fuuka or FoolFuuka.

Due to archival software being open-source and archivers usually having limited resources,
this list will often be out of date.

What happens when I make a post here?

If you post in the archives, you can post in archived threads, but they won't show up on 4chan. These posts are called "ghost replies" because even though they're replies to a thread that started on 4chan, they only show up on the archive.

If you post on the internal boards, they work just like a normal message board and are saved for as long as the site is up.

What's this 'ghost board' thing?

If you click on the 'View in Ghost mode' button, you'll see the latest threads that got ghost replies. It's there so people can easily see which threads are getting ghost replies, hence the name ghost board. So when you make a post on an archived thread, it will bump the thread you posted on to the top of the page for people who view the archive in ghost mode!

Obviously, it will only work for boards with ghost posting enabled.

I don't know how to use search!

- Use "" to search for exact matches.
=> "vocaloid thread" will search for posts that include that exact sentence.

- Using multiple words, quoted sentence or other expressions with a pipe "|" will make it return posts that contain any of those expressions.
=> vocaloid | thread will return posts that contain either "vocaloid" OR "thread".

- Using - before a word or quoted sentence will remove that from the search results.
=> +"vocaloid thread" -miku will return posts that contain the snipped "vocaloid" that don't contain the word "miku".

=> vocaloid | thread -miku -rin will return posts that contain both "vocaloid" OR "thread" but that don't have neither "miku" NOR "rin".

- Using * as a suffix gives you partial matches. It only works at the end of words, not at the beginning or middle.
=> voc will return posts that contain stuff like "vocaloid", "vocals", etc.
=>
ouhou and to*hou WILL NOT give out the expected result.

What language is FoolFuuka written in?

FoolFuuka is written in PHP. Fuuka is written in Perl.

How do I host my own personal archive?

Make sure you meet the system requirements. After that, checkout the source and join the IRCHighway #fooldriver channel for the help you will definitely need.

How do I contact you?

I can be contacted by admin@loveisover.me. I am also on IRC at IRCHighWay as Bladee. Questions that you want to see answered in this FAQ welcome.

You are hosting copyrighted material on your servers, please remove it.

Love is Over Archives automatically pulls as many posts as possible from the 4chan archive to store for long (or indefinite) periods of time. Unfortunately, on occasion copyrighted pictures or information will be stored on the servers. In order to go through the DMCA process, please view the DMCA article.

I'm part of the law enforcement and I'm investigating something, I need IP addresses for posts you have on your website.

/d/ and /i/ are archives, not forums. The threads, thumbnails and posts here were originally posted on 4chan.org's boards. Due to the fact that content in 4chan boards is volatile and will usually disappear in a few hours, depending on the posting speed of each board, the service that is run here automatically retrieves and archives posts from some of 4chan's boards and makes them available permanently.

As such, the IP addresses of the users whose posts are archived are not available, since 4chan does not make that information available to its users. You may contact 4chan's owner (moot@4chan.org) for more information.

What personally identifiable information is recorded?

When you access the site, just like any another website, the standard logs are stored. A cookie is set on your browser, but it contains no identifiable information, it's only so your browser remembers if you prefer viewing the site in HTTP or HTTPS.

When you make a post on the archive, your IP address is stored along with the content of your post. Most forum software distributions do this, including 4chan. In addition, the randomly generated deletion password is also stored (so you can delete the post on the internal boards).

In addition, no other private data, like tripcode passwords are stored. The tripcodes are stored after being hashed (ie: just like you view them on the site). You can read the publicly available source code if you wish to verify these claims.
