This comic is making light of a serious issue. I'm a man and I have been deceived by makeup several times

The worst was when makeup stole over 8 grand from me in a credit card fraud. #yesallmen

I married a woman for her makeup. But after the wedding, she wouldn't let me use it.

Will the crimes of the matriarchy never cease?

This is a weird premise.

It's making fun of the thing some guys say about girls who wear make up, that they are misleading the guy in terms of what they really look like. Gets a bit of a silly giggle out of you when you know what it's about.

I personally know full well what it's referring to, I just think the jokes fall flat as a wet pancake.

Complete shot in the dark here, but: you're a guy, aren't you

That's a complete shot in the dark for you...?

I mean, you've got at the very least a 50/50 chance... That's like walking into a zoo and saying "just a shot in the dark, but there's animals in here aren't there?"

Dude, I don't know the zoos you go to if they only have a 50/50 chance of animals being there, but I think that's being scammed.

Some zoo is not around anymore :(

Sorry, let me clarify--I was sarcastically using that phrase because it is obvious that you are a dude

I feel like it's trying to make a point, but if it is I can't figure out what that point is.

I got "men are really easy to deceive using make-up" which is probably true.

More making fun of men who complain about about makeup being deceiving.

That does seem like a stupid thing to complain about.

It's the whole argument that women are deceiving men into thinking that they're more attractive than they actually are because they wear makeup.

It's dumb, both the argument and the comics.

Actually, the artist is mocking the idea that makeup is deceiving men. I thought this was obvious.

That's exactly what I said....and it doesn't make it any less dumb.

I don't get why it would be dumb to make fun of something dumb, but… okay…

Because it's not really making fun of something. Mixing over the top absurdity with strange preachyness isn't my idea of funny..

So yer not a fan of Bill Hicks or George Carlin I'm guessing?

Are you comparing these idiotic cartoons to Hicks and Carlin?

"over the top absurdity with strange preachyness"

That IS what you wrote, right?

Its funny but i dont think this is something men complain about in real life.

It's an argument I read more than once in the comment sections of YouTube and their like.

Its an argument I have more than once on this this site.

comment sections of YouTube

I also hate how men are always saying I've won a free car, but it's actually a computer virus. I really wish YouTube comments didn't reflect humanity's plight so accurately.

You are right. Nobody should make fun of things that only happen on the internet. That just happens when feminisicists don't get their shit together! Damn feminisicism!

It doesn't make them automatically good either. But I thought a lot of these were

Stop defending the comics some of them are pretty funny. If some of these guys have never seen the phenomenon out in the wild, well they will eventually.

Actually, I think it's clear that the author used interesting rhythmic devices which seemed to counterpoint the underlying metaphor of the humanity of the authors soul. Which contrives through the medium of the verse structure to sublimate this, transcend that, and come to terms with the fundamental dichotomies of the other, and one is left with a profound and vivid insight into... whatever this comic was about.

You... You too anon...

So what you're saying is that I write comics because underneath my mean callous heartless exterior i really just want to be loved.

Do any normal men actually think makeup is deceiving? Is this country run by sharia law now or something?

I don't think it's makeup in general that's deceiving, but you can't deny that there are people out there who look nearly completely different without the heavy makeup they apply.

...but that's the entire point of makeup. You're a retard if you feel "decieved" by this, but makeup is used to make a woman look younger and prettier than she actually is. Thus giving off indicator's that she's fertile for the best man she can get.

You are right! No woman who doesn't want to get pregnant should wear makeup! Actually, they should deny birth control to every woman using make up!

Or… we just appreciate the wish some people have to put some paint on their faces, instead of making it a questionable matter of evolutionary biology. I mean… it's 2015, people!

  1. You just argued with a person who was agreeing with you. Aggressively and in a preachy manner.

  2. You manage to argue with something that wasn't actually their point.

Hey… this is the internet… I am just having fun here… and I don't see how pseudo scientific theories will help the liberation of mankind from stereotypes and forced role models.

I don't see how potatoes will help the liberation of mankind from stereotypes and forced role models, but I still see their value in other areas.

People originally put on makeup to look better. That is the basic purpose of makeup. Eventually some people have gone so far with it that their motivations are only tangentially related to the original reason, but the vast majority of them still end up looking better as a result.

Maybe, but the comment above ignores that men wear make up, too and evolutionary biology is pretty much useless outside of scientific contexts, because we deny biology everyday a few thousand times… you know… by using pacemakers, cooking food before eating or driving a car.

Normally I might agree with you, evolutionary biology is applied to many areas it has no business being applied to. People trying to look good, however, is firmly within its wheelhouse. Wanting to attract a good partner - male or female - is hardly the sole reason for makeup, but it is up there.

Why are you getting downvoted? I like to put paint on my face because I like how it looks, and I like other girls who do that because they are also pretty.

But it is certinally genious. I have a friend who has people ask her if she is tired everytime she doesnt wear makeup.

I don't get this.

According to you, an hypothetical woman is always wearing makeup, it's how people get used to seeing her and probably the only way they've ever seen her, yet when she doesn't wear it and shows her pale and poorly cared face around, with skin that probably hasn't directly seen the sun in ages, the people who worry about her sudden change in appearance (often associated with disease) are the big jerks?

You may not have noticed that the person you are replying to didn't actually call anyone jerks.

But women are pretty much forced to wear makeup to look 'healthy'. Society tells them from a young age that if they want to fit in, they have to wear makeup at all times.

When you say it, it's misogyny.

When this woman says it, it is a criticism of your misogyny.

This post is making fun of you for saying makeup is deceptive (whether you think that or not) because it is obviously not deceptive.

A quick Google search brings up this article that says men can't tell the difference between no makeup and natural makeup... which makes you a jerk because the beauty industry exists.

It's called "damned if you do, damned if you don't." There's nothing you can do about it.

This is a weird premise.

Oh... Oh sorry I didn't see your friends there.

She's probably an 8 / 10 with, 4 / 10 without makeup kind of girl and she's sick of people judging her for trying to trick men like some sort of 1800's witch.

You should x-post this on /r/makeupaddiction

I believe it was posted there a few days ago, actually. I remember scrolling by it before. They enjoyed the comics!

I don't think their rules allow cartoons, so I won't do it, but I am fine if someone else does.

Or /r/TrollXChromosomes, they would love it!

I think they've already had it over there, I think that's where I saw it first

I lost it at the "Danger Bees" comic, bahahaha

[–]throwaway_thyroid 8ポイント9ポイント  (1子コメント)

The guys posting about how this is "dumb" and they don't "get it" also have no idea that their buddy Jason they met ten years ago at their old job and whom they think they could count on in times of need is a tube of extra-lengthening mascara.

But is it volume enhancing? Is it?

I initially thought the eyelashes said, "Satan is real", which lent the rest of that comic a different tone.

This is great!

Not sure I got most of these

Same. It went right over my head.

Most men have no idea how drastic the change in appearance for women is when women wear cosmetics. In a lot of cases, the difference in attraction they show between women is a direct function of how much effort and what tactics a woman is willing to invest.

This comic is a play on that. It is showing men being deceived by make-up but the deception is to a different end than the typical goal of changing how men look at the woman wearing the cosmetics. The make-up is instead deceiving men into other incorrect conclusions.

so many guys complain that makeup is deceiving and "lying," these comics are making fun of guys like that

That must be why so many of these comments make it out to be controversial.

Answers why there are some very sensitive commenters.

I'd say it's only deceiving if you're looking to date that woman and she wears too much on dates. Appearance is a legitimate requirement for the majority of people.

I love this, because it is not at all what I expected. Great work!

This was really clever and charming. Just enough weirdness too!

These comments. :(

For real world examples can somebody post before and after makeup pictures of porn stars?

That was just stupid.

Makeup is okay. But taking pictures at weird angle to appear less fat is lying.

Anything that is not true is lying
