why was it a good idea to cut the gif right there?

That was pretty much it. only thing missing is the guy cuts them in half. Here is the full thing.

Holy shit the crackle of the food frying made my ears so happy

Im surprised the candle was enough to make frying temperature? Maybe someone can explain - I'm guessing scale...

candles put out a good amount of heat. i have one of these ikea lanterns, and with a good-sized candle in there, or even a few tea lights, it'll keep the top of it warm enough to keep food warm.

i'm doing it right now, actually. it's keeping my burger warm while i type out comments. or whatever.

but yeah. candles are hot. it's like a fire, only wee.

That's..freaking smart. Doing it.

You should check out Nameless on YouTube. They make a bunch of tiny Japanese food with a ton of pleasant noises for the ears.

I'd link but I'm on mobile. And I'm about a 7.

Pleasant noises for the ears? I want pleasant noises for my nose, sir.

Here is Nameless's channel. Definitely my go-to for ASMR. Some similar channels are bonobos25, decocookie, Hey! It's Mosogourmet!! あっ、 妄想グルメだ! and Banatu - 바나뚜레 (this one is the absolute best for food noises).

Ah, I follow all those channels (except Banatu -- thank you for that one!). I just discovered another channel that has a playlist specifically for ASMR and cuisine, too: Peaceful Cuisine.

"I'm about a 7" I see this expression, can you ELI5?

He's stoned.

Gotcha, from context I've seen I think I would have guessed that. Thx for confirmation :)

[–]Bavvh 0

Stoned, on a scale of 1-10.

this is so much more satisfying with sound

/r/ASMR material here, if it's not already submitted

Oh believe me, every RRCherrypie video ever has been posted to /r/ASMR.

The ones without music, anyway.

Edit: The channel wasn't even her, disregard comment

I didn't think this was RRCherryPie/Nameless? Very similar, but different channel, unless I'm once again out of the loop on her* drama.

Oh, shi-

Edited comment.

Her??? Huh, always assumed otherwise. Shows how much attention I pay

Idk, the channel name gas Cherrypie in the title and there a lot of pink and feminine themes in the videos on the channel. If it was a dude, I'd be more than surprised.

I always thought the original RRCherrypie was a man. Shame he had to change his name.

So just post the video, you monster.

EDIT: Aww, 30 second ad?! You can't win!

So are those edible? I remember watching videos by someone named RRCherrypie but I think the miniature food made in those videos weren't edible.

but why?

I'm with the crowd that adore tiny versions of regular things. I can't explain it.

It has a kind of pop-up book, puppet show, claymation/stop motion charm about it. It's all the attention to detail of any normal sized thing, but none of the actual functionality (I know they function in this case, but you wouldn't actually buy them to use in a kitchen or anything). So, minus the function, it's all form, and just meant for fun/cuteness/an exercise in craft.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of videos of people making tiny candy on Youtube, just search for "Japanese Candy Making Kit" :)

It's super cute! Like in the full video I couldn't help but smile :)

I know! There really is something satisfying about the tiny version of something work just as well as the regular sized version, though.

I wish there was a sub for this, I'm so there with you.

I discovered this shortly after writing that. Thank you!

That probably makes your boyfriend feel appreciated.

I had to

Well this is a bizarre thing in Japan where they make tiny things. I've seen this video before. Usually the context is under /r/asmr but it would have sound. I have no decent explanation for its existence, other than that some people find it /r/oddlysatisfying

Well this is a bizarre thing in Japan

The thing is that most Japanese people would look at you weird if you asked about it. They wouldn't know what you're talking about and think that you're weird because you know about it.

[–]Etonet 0

"supersize it please"

It seems so wasteful. They should at least feed it to tiny Japanese hamsters or something. (And then film it so I can watch that too.)

Well, that certainly seems plausible.

That sub is a bit odd. Chicks whispering while their mic is turned way up so you can hear them touch things.

I hate the sound of their mouths smacking. It's like an unwritten rule of "ASMR". The only ones I like are the accidental ones like this gif's source. Especially cooking videos with no talking. Anything with no talking, as soon as they open their gob it's ruined.

I am dissatisfied by tiny tempura shrimp. Is there a video showing the opposite (unusually large tempura shrimp)?

I don't know about that, but here's a video of shrimp being cooked in 3 seconds being used as a projectile. https://youtu.be/lkaIoH6Um60

Large shrimp? Sorry, I'm allergic to oxymorons!

I just imagine a mouse coming up to the table and eating the shrimp in a civilized manner.

Mouse? You haven't seen the tiny hamster eating tiny burritos video? It will delight you so.

"Ahhh yes dinner"

shoves whole thing into cheek pouches for later

[–]Eleanor_Abernathy 7ポイント8ポイント  (0子コメント)

I was waiting for the hamster to show up and eat the tiny shrimp!

Sorry but I gotta be that guy. This isn't tempura, this is standard breading procedure. Tempura is usually a light batter. Also that dude must be a fucking giant.

Edit: I watched the video and he does do tempura first. You can even see it in the gif when he puts down the cutting board, the 2 shrimp that look under cooked on the closer plate. Still though, your post is incorrect, you bring dishonor to your dojo, and you should preform seppuku. Great shame.

i came here to post about a privileged world making a mockery of survival but i was beaten to it in an astonishingly grand fashion

preform seppuku

You should also perform sudoku.

Engrish is my second ranguage.

Wow. Not sure what you did wrong here, or Reddit just don't take a joke.

It'd be like someone offhandedly mentioning autism and suddenly people start replying "reeeeeee". It's funny to some people but not everyone

What i find annoying is when people think "hey i find this funny, why doesn't everyone find this funny?"
And start going "reddit can't take jokes!"

Also because the joke is very easy and unoriginal. So some downvotes are probably for the low effort.

I mean...it's fairly racist? Stereotypical accents tend to skirt lines.

It's not tempura at all. He flours it, uses an egg wash then bread crumbs. No batter here.

What he's making is katsu.

It's actually ebifurai, not katsu.

I had to look this up, and you're right. Apparently katsu refers to a cutlet that's breaded and deep fried, so pork, beef, or chicken, while furai refers to shrimp, oysters or squid.

He should perform *sudoku. You baka fucking gaijin.

Ebifurai is serious business.

Good for him. Tempura sucks.

yeah, this is an ebi fry, not tempura.

Look up Miniature Space on Youtube~ The tiny pancakes are my favorite.

Those cheeseburgers though!

I thought this would end with it being fed to a hamster like the others I've seen :(

I might be a grown ass man, but I'm not ashamed to as admit that I find this to be pretty damned cute.

He even had the mini spatula which made it that much more adorable

[–]knoxxx_harrington 7ポイント8ポイント  (4子コメント)

I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but I think unicorns are kick ass.

I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but I like gay men. wait..... DAMMIT!!

Thank you for that quote.

[–]Dunabu 0

I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin', but I think Depeche Mode is a sweet band!

I've always wanted an easy bake oven but now I could just use a toaster oven.

Is this a thing? Cause I could watch this shit for hours and I don't know why.

Yes it is. There's a fast food burger one, a bento one, and others.

I've fallen into a YouTube rabbit hole of them now

The tiny spatula sold it for me.

A stove for ants

Came here for the inevitable ants comment. Here's your up vote.

These tiny food videos make me uncomfortable.

Me too. I feel kind of panicky and a bit ill. Is this some sort of oddly-specific phobia? Well, at least there are two of us.

I, too, find these tiny food preparations to be unsettling.

Hey listen; is your mouth tiny and small? Then why don't you come down to Lil' Bits? Where...where the food is tiny, it's...looks like regular food but really tiny...you put it in your mouth and eat it. Nothing gets stuck in your lips. It's just tiny, and tiny, and fits right in...heh heh...fits right in.

I know nothing about tempura except that it's delicious. Is it was easy as this gif makes it look?

Deep frying always looks easy until you do it.

Wish he had a hamster to at the dinner table ready to eat!

I was hoping he'd feed it to a hamster, that would make it completely satisfying.

You could probably get away with creating a restaurant around tiny food like this in NY. Charge huge prices, and serve up mini versions of large dishes, cooked in front of the diners using all miniature equipment.

The only thing gigantic there would be the margins.

If only Fermat had one of those...

10/10 arriety would borrow

Where can I buy a this miniature stuff

I to want a tiny functioning stove so I can make tiny food.

I didn't even realize I need a tiny working stove until now.

oh jeezus. was he about to make micro sushi just before it cuts out?

That is panko not tempura.

This is the most satisfying thing I've ever seen in my life

Holy shit, is that a mini Tojiro DP Knife? I know that handle from anywhere.

So... Fried sea monkeys?

Had my first omakase sushi dinner last night, this strengthens the residual boner I have from the shrimp-head tempura I received.

Edit: Shrimp-head tempura is highly recommended by yours truly.

I don't understand these tiny cooking packages. Who buys them? Can you eat it? Is it for kids or adults? Where is this popular?

This is exactly the same as the average sized meal in posh restaurants

Can i conclude that Ant-man will travel to Japan in his next movie?

There's the video, copied from one of OP's comments.

If you're the the cooking type, oddly satisfying goes to mildly infuriating while watching his breading technique

Is there a subreddit for this kind of stuff?

Is there a sub for tiny things like this?

I'm really disappointed. I was expecting a hamster to eat the shrimp at the end.

Awesome video. Is there a tiny things subreddit??

Its like a kitchen made for Ratatouille.

[–]Likes_Shiny_Things 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

That is breaded shrimp.

Tempura uses an emulsified batter rather than dry bread crumbs/panko.

I fucking love tiny cooking
