To keep it all concise, I'm gonna try and make this with all the known rumors and drama surrounding invasion at the moment.

There was a person who commented on Ronin and Bangs profile, stating "I"m sorry for any trouble I may have caused you or Bang(/Ronin, if on bangs profile.)" The one behind the comment currently has their profile description as "Sorry. The chatlog is not to be trusted."

EDIT: The same person who commented on Ronin/Bangs profile, also said this. "Stop the hate. Invasion is still on. I respect Ronin and Bang. Above all, I don't want any more attention. I don't know anything else, except that I acted without thinking in posting the chatlog, leading to misrepresented information getting spread. I apoligize to anyone effected, and as of now I am taking a brief leave of absence from Steam and Reddit until this all dies down."

    That's my concern. We have to remember that they might've done a lot of the work involved, enough to warrant taking over 1/5 and then just about 1/3. Don't act like they didn't.

    By the same virtue, though, let's also not act like they could be complete saints who are just named victims. They may be that, and also greedy dicks. We don't know yet.

      Sure, I think it'd be nice to get fair cuts, or reasonable ones (for instance CG getting 10% might be fair).

      But it's 24 people working on a project, that's 4% a piece the Marxist way roughly. And knowing that the work probably wasn't even, we're already talking 1-3%.

      To them it's two to three times the value they're getting, but at the same time it's pennies. A big argument to make over this.

      This is all part of Valve's plan. My theory is that Valve asked those involved to fabricate a drama, to emphasise Invasion's theme of conspiracy. Of course, whilst also keeping the whole thing under wraps.

        Unfortunately, as soon as one person starts spreading negative information it spirals out of control, and there are endless threads and fear-mongering associated with it.

        As I said in the Facepunch post; the 'drama' is being overexaggerated and more and more people begin to speculate and spread un-clarified rumors, adding fuel to the fire.

        I'm really hoping everything gets worked out, and everyone gets paid what they deserve. Hopefully the next community update goes as smoothly as Robotic Boogaloo (apparently) did, without anything going wrong like payment percentages or content being cut.           I feel it should be stated since everyone forgot. The original TF2Maps contest that brought us the maps and, presumably, the idea for this update was funded by Ronan out of his pocket. The winners, collectively, won $1,000.

          After taking such an investment upfront, especially considering this update might not have happened, getting paid a bit more is totally justified. Not only did he do that he organized the whole update and made sure it happened; managers do get paid more.

          All that being said; $0.30 does seem high when everyone else is getting $0.02-0.01. I think a more fair ratio would have been him getting $0.15 while the others get somewhere around $0.04-0.05.

          Concerning Mr. Throwaway, he comes off as rather childish. While I agree the pay was off there are better ways to go about addressing it like contacting Valve directly. Instead he choose to, essentially, throw a tantrum on the internet and try and spoil the update for everyone. Other people who worked on it are defending Ronan so I think that should say something. Mr. Throwaway could just be a dude angry at his boss.

          Since the delay seems to be the website, which was rumored earlier, then /u/Harry101UK's comment sounds pretty reasonable. A page or two describing the content should only take a few hours. We may get the update tomrrow, and I for one am quite excited. Glad the team has worked out most of the differences quite some time ago. Seems the whole money issue was near the beginning of the project, and now we just need the website finished! Also, Ronin seems like he really cares about the whole project, I just hope everyone gets treated fairly in the end

            Nice professionalism. They could've easily saved face by NOT aerating dirty laundry and keeping it internal and just posting a correction image! People expecting it would've been disappointed but it could've been played off as a joke.

            Have the drama explode after the fact if it must.

            At the very least you can keep update details still a surprise, but for some reason you answer with specific details of what the update contains. Why?

            I support someone going through posts and deleting any specific details. No need to ruin contents for everyone just because the release date was miscommunication.

              Something's triggering reddit's spam filter for whatever reason, I'm going to wager the Tumblr links are causing it.                   I feel both sorry for and upset at Ronin and Bang. Everything had to go to hell because of the money. What could have been great came to this because of it. I hope they can come out of this and still make it a good community update.

                  Just to clear things up, the update will still come out, it wasn't delayed because of the webpages not being done nor all this fuss, I was finishing the web page on Wednesday when Valve emailed Ronin and I to inform us it would be delayed because they needed more time to code some things for the update, given that I took a break, but the web page is ready.

                  Whoever said it was delayed because of the web page is misinformed.

                  Was this your first time coding a webpage ? Does Valve has some standard or tools to respect when making a "update" webpage ? Was it a fun experience to create it ?

                  Since you ask, this is not my first time coding a web page, I have designed and coded dozens of web pages before, HTML/CSS/PHP/Jscript/Ajax/mysql and including database management and PHP secured forms to submit/manage projects and clients. I also know other compiled languages like C#, VB and script languages Jscript, Python, Lua, VBscript... You can see some of my C# tools on my steam profile, although its been a while I had time to work on those.

                  I studied IT and then worked a few years on the field before deciding to move into 3D since I was modding games for years in my free time, I realized I wanted to work in games, so I made the switch.

                  I don't mean to brag about that but you're not the first to question my abilities and I understand since I don't have a portfolio/CV online and I am pretty quiet in the TF2 community. Most of my work is behind the scenes, I rarely post online, I like work and to work a lot so when I am not working I am either outside or playing video games but people who work on these community projects know my work and I already got offers to work on other projects because I am known for getting things done and had to turn down several interesting promo item projects & community projects while working on Invasion. I'll talk more about that and all this drama in a thread I'll make with Ronin.

                  Back to your other question though, I also did a lot of the graphic work on the Robotic Boogaloo update for the webpages there.

                  The webpages for the TF2 update are quite simple, you have the graphics done in photoshop, some things rendered in SFM and composed in PS, sliced in images of 1600 by 900 (roughly for the height it varies) pixels (so it loads fast and doesn't saturate the client/server with big image files) these background images are placed in divs and the text and controls are inside those divs with their own div and CSS to align them and stylize.

                  Valve doesn't really tell us what to do with the webpage or the project in general, they give us freedom, they know some of us in the team have worked on several promos for TF2 & updates, made a webpage for TF2 so they trust what I and other people on the team can do, they rarely object to anything unless there is a big mistake, possible legal/copyright issues or a technical problem.

                  Nothing super fancy needed really, its mostly graphics which is super fun because there aren't many constraints with Valve's way of doing their TF2 update web pages and Valve gives us creative freedom, the code is easy.

                    When you're not logged in, Reddit uses a cache that's a few minutes old. That would explain your new posts not showing up. It not being stickied is pretty weird though because you can tell that it is neither removed (would show up as [removed] for me) nor unstickied (the title text is still green and says "stickied post")

                          From a business stand point, Fridays are dead days. It's usually a graveyard. No major press releases are sent out, unless you want it to be buried and ignored. Networks also move declining tv shows to Fridays to die out.
