Overall, feminism has been fantastically positive for all of us.

Except that women are less happy now. That would seem to be a net negative for them.

For men though, I agree. Hugely positive. I've had more and more fulfilling sexual relationships than my father, and I've paid much less for it.

Correlation is not causation!

Correlation is not causation!

Regardless, happiness has gone down, and that is indeed correlated with the rise in social and political power of feminism.

But feminism should be causing it to go up. I mean, otherwise what is the point?

And you know damn well that if happiness had gone up, and I had mentioned that, you wouldn't have felt the need to clarify that correlation is not causation. When /u/tomdarch claimed that feminism has been "fantastically positive" you certainly didn't challenge him.

So here's where we are:

  • feminism should be making women happier

  • there has been a decline in happiness that coincides with the rise of feminism

My response to your post is that whether the decline is caused by feminism or merely correlated with it, its existence is evidence that feminism is doing something wrong.

I am not sure you understand:

Also, the sample size in the study you posted is too small to draw any conclusions about American women as a whole. And there is absolutely no proof that it has anything to do with the rise of feminism, or that the goal of feminism are to make women "happier" as defined by that study.

Edit: Oh, you're a TRPer. Of course you are.
