Stoners are always trying to justify their drug habit. It really pisses me off when they hide behind religion to do it, particularly mine. Seriously, fuck off.

Whoa, I made it very clear that my faith and my "drug habit" are separate parts of my life, and was looking to see what kind of reception I would receive from others in regards to something that has been demonized for far too long. Not very unlike asatru or any other non-Christian faith in this country. I get a strong sense you're associating an herb used for medicine across the country to heroin or meth. I know you're the grumpy one but it seems you're uneducated when it comes to cannabis and it's general user

Opinion from another stoner: Don't care about to what he's saying. He may have his thoughts about it, but neither him nor anyone here can say what you can do or what you can't. You can honor the Gods the way you like and it's something between you and them. If they will accept your offerings or not, it is not up to us to say. It's aaall between you and them.

I don't use cannabis on the rituals because my kindred is against it and, as long as I am not breaking any rules or annoying anyone, I will continue to do what I want.

Ok, but you were looking to see how well the reception is of this. Would you prefer he change his opinion so you can be coddled or are you truly trying to find how your practices fit in the heathen mind set?

He definitely gave a very strong reaction, and in that sense I have no qualms. I do not care for him saying in any way or shape that I'm using my faith as an excuse to do hard drugs. If he thinks I'm doing the equivalent of shooting black tar heroin in my veins, that backwards view is also fine, what is not fine is right out of the gate accusing me of saying I'm into asatru and heathenry simply to justify my substance use.

His reaction was probably due to the fact that you explicitly state that you "openly practice/read/commune while under the influence of ganja", and imply that the usage of your drug of choice is key to the way that you practice your faith. Tying marijuana and heathenry together in this way does seem as if you're trying to continue your drug usage under the guise of it being a part of your heathen faith, which as far as I know has no historical precedent.

I can see that, but I also stated in a lower comment that I make sure they don't feed each other so to speak. I'll smoke, go for a hike and sit down and decide to crack my copy of elves wights and trolls, these two things overlap in my life. I don't smoke to get high so I can then practice, they just some times happen together

Your initial post didn't make that clear, and unfortunately some of us have had experiences with people trying to use our faith as a 'shield' against those who would condemn them for their drug usage. As you can tell from aleglad's reaction, it is not appreciated. I'll stand by my statement that the ultimate decision is in the hands of whoever is hosting the event you will be at, or the kindred you are wanting to join.
