My favourite delusion anything that would require hundreds of serving military, or FBI, politicians, government workers etc. to coordinate doing something sketchy and nobody blabs Even years later. I agree that most conspiracy theories on /r/conspiracy aren't really based in the real world. Fantasy very often prevails over realism, or ideology over fact. IDK most of the time I just feel like that so many of the /r/conspiracy crowd (and other similar subreddits) are contrarians that desperately want to be really loud about it.

Anyway, its not very often I see people on Reddit change their mind when presented with evidence to the contrary. Conspiracy is much more stubborn than others but that good old confirmation bias is something that everything and everyone here on Reddit falls prey to.

I think the biggest difference is /r/conspiracy users will gladly slander anyone that disagrees with them by labeling them a "shill" without even a shred of proof. So this is well above and beyond your standard Reddit confirmation bias and is more akin to one of those "family values" politicians getting caught blowing dudes at an airport.

FlyTape has gotten back to me and pointed me toward the publicly available 990s too. I had a look over AE9/11's 2013 990 form and couldn't see anything in there that is particularly incriminating (except for a $14,250 grant to an organisation I can't find any info on), so I've messaged him back for clarification.

Edit: he hasn't gotten back to me. If this is all they have their "evidence" is spectacularly weak. Never change /r/conspiracy

Basically AssuredlyAThrowAway (who is a mod of /r/conspiracy) 'discovered' that another mod of the sub (Orangutan) is either an employee or a financial beneficiary of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, which is the premier 9/11 "truth" propaganda organisation. On this basis AATA banned Orangutan from the mod list.

In response to this another mod of /r/conspiracy (SovereignMan), removed AATA's post and made sure his modding privileges were revoked. SovereignMan is, from my viewpoint, also heavily aligned with the Architects and Engineers truther faction. Further, both SovereignMan and Orangutan mod /r/911truth. Hence, drama between them and AATA.

It should be noted that AATA's allegations against Orangutan have yet to be substantiated in any way. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it was true though, Architects and Engineers are desperate for publicity and a sub with 300,000 potential donors is a good place to start.

I also left out of the post that SRD's favourite /r/conspiracy moderator, FlyTape, is the source of these documents. Which adds extra butter because FlyTape has previously made it very clear he is not a 9/11 truther.

This fact alone gets him quite a bit of shit from the /r/conspiracy user base - if it became widely known there he was responsible for getting AE9/11 banned from the sub we could have a tinfoil riot on our hands.

The thing is, mostly these conspiracies are enacted by corporations or first world governments against developing countries and their people. And most conspiracies have to do with simple shit like price rigging. Or corruption. Talk about shilling! Just go to Africa to see what I mean. Hey, how is the same dude in power from 1986 to today? And he always wins 96% of the rural vote? And yet his people are poor and many starving, and all the wealth of his country has flowed into his own pockets, the pockets of his cronies, and the pockets of wealthy corporations who pay him so they can steal his country's resources away from his people.

The thing is, /r/conspiracy does not give a shit about a big Western oil company polluting the Niger River so that people's villages are destroyed, they can't grow food, they can't breathe, they're sickening and dying.

No. Because a conspiracy is something perpetrated against white middle class people. It's not something the powerful do to marginalized peoples in the developing world. Nope. If the redditor can't see himself as a victim, then it's not worth bothering about.

AATA, you claim that Flytape got someone's 1099s because a 501(c)(3) org's tax filings can be publicly inspected. How was this possible?

The IRS' public inspection process requires availability of only annual returns and some forms filed only when the organization starts, not the 1099s. And neither the annual return (Form 990) nor the instructions for completing it require that 1099s be attached to the return. So from where I'm sitting, it looks like 1099s can't be obtained by the public.

I have no dog in this fight but I do have an accounting degree and this idea that someone got 1099s via some public inspection process got my senses tingling.

Why do you, as a moderator for /r/conspiracy, think that it's okay to abruptly remove another moderator (who the community voted in, unlike you) over an unsubstantiated accusation like this? Orangutan has come out and said that they don't get any compensation from either organizations, and even still, tax documents that aren't tied to Orangutan should not be permissible "evidence" against them.

So again: Why are you acting like this, and how is it good for /r/conspiracy? You have just fabricated yet another headache for the community that you are supposed to be helping.
