/r/conspiracy links were pretty much the only links I looked at. Hopefully those other subs will fill the niche.

The reddit links were the only reason i was here.

Now this subreddit is only here to give clicks to the sites it condemns, which i always found really really stupid.

Yeah, I liked this sub to keep tabs on what was going on in the conspiracy community. Bummer I can't use it for that anymore. I haven't clicked on anything here in quite a while, I'll probably unsub too.

Same here. I'm not going to go visit some idiot's site and give them a hit, so I'm out.

Fuck it, I'm unsubbing too. Will check in from time to time in the hope the idiotic rules that killed this sub are reversed. I'm unsure if there's been a drop in the number of submissions (one suspects there has been) but I know there hasn't been a commensurate rise in quality resulting from the change. This strikes me as just a gigantic, utterly unnecessary cop out that has ensured a lot of the smug conspiracist shit that floods this website goes totally unscrutinised. And so it continues...

The fact is the mods had so many other options to take before the NO REDDIT LINKS EVER nuclear option. For example, lots of the conspiracist crap I come across occurs on the front page from mainstream, non-conspiracist, non-kook, non-racist subs. The other day there was a post on /r/pics which consisted of a 9/11-related cartoon that got absolutely flooded with truthers. So why not ban submissions linking to /r/conspiracy only if we're so keen to demonstrate 'good will' toward that particular grouping of toxic morons? The fact is the problem is Reddit-wide, and this sub would get a lot of worthwhile content if its remit was dealing with all subs except /r/conspiracy.

Anyway, that's just one option. I'm really disappointed the mods, who for the most part appear reasonable, have enacted this change with no consultation. And I stuck around long enough to give the new rules a chance, too.

The verdict? Boring.

Edit: /r/topmindsofreddit is actually a pretty good substitute.

I agree. Until this rule is changed back I'm unsubbing. The non-reddit content was more just icing compared to the reddit stuff. I'm already subbed to SRD and overall it's a crap sub with a crap community. And they don't focus on conspiritards. SRS never really interested me either. I'll check out /r/topmindsofreddit .

It's been good. Peace

And wow, I subbed to /r/ShitRedditSays and that place is a fucking shithole. I would never tell anyone to go there in fear they will gouge their eyes out. This is how that sub plays out to avoid any unneeded self inflicted eye violence >

Post: "redditor is racist and says X group is shitty"

Comments: "OMG what a piece of shit! We all know redditor is from Y group and Y group is shitty!"

It is just as bad as /r/SubredditDrama

"OMG they are talking about how X is better than Y"

"I kno rite? X fucking sucks and Y is sooo much better. Stupid fags!"

Also, as a gesture of goodwill towards our dear friends at /r/conspiracy [not to mention watch dog groups who monitor Zionist warmongerer activities on social media], we will no longer allow any 'subreddit drama' type posts here.

And that's the death of this subreddit. It was a good run, boys.

5 months later and i didn't even realize i'm still subbed here. Fixed that though.

This rule really ruined this sub for me. Who cares about keeping tabs on what some idiot wrote on his fringe website. Discussing the huge conspiratard community is much more interesting and relevant.

They should allow posting archives from /r/conspiracy like they do in /r/isrconspiracyracist

I've created /r/TopMindsOfReddit as a catch-all home for the Reddit links that would previously have belonged here, and might not fit in the other related subs. Hopefully that will scratch our itch to make fun of the general goings-on in /r/conspiracy, /r/worldnews, /r/politics, and the rest.

While I applaud efforts to avoid brigading another sub, it is unfortunate that we can no longer link directly to /r/conspiracy, even with an .np. domain. Links to /r/conspiracy are my favorite, because: one gets a better dose and selection of crazy in all the comments; users don't have security concerns of being sent to a random conspiratard's website; and submitters don't have to worry about spiking web traffic and revenue to some potentially vile person or group.

I think it is great, however, that we can link to Youtube now. We're closing one window of crazy and opening a door of glorious insanity.

EDIT: P.S. Thanks for all your hard work, mods!

I'm really happy the "Spring Cleaning" post is now removed. It's Winter, not spring as our HARP mods would like us to believe.

As for the /r/conspiracy ruling, I find it interesting. I'm not sure what to make of it, as on one hand it will stop a lot of the same retread, but it will cut down content. Hopefully Youtube will have enough crazy for all of us though!

MidEDIT:: but just to be clear, does this mean no more /r/conspiracy links? Because that's what i comprehended from your post. I also wonder that if another large disaster occurs (I mean hopefully this never happens again, but still), such as sandy hook, Boston bombing, if super threads or sorts will be made to see all the misinformation spread in RConspiracy. I guess only time will tell how things work out.

Thanks for the moderation! Hope you guys have great holidays!

On the other hand, it's perfectly possible to have opinions on rule changes without going /r/muhfreedoms all over everything. It's a bit unclear what exactly the new rule is, but I think it would be unfortunate to completely exclude the rich deposits of tinfoil right next door.

For /r/conspiracy discussing this sub at least, /r/conspiratardmythos could always use more content.

Yeah, no more links to anything reddit-related including reddit mirror sites. How can they claim this is a sub meant to be a downvote brigade of /r/conspiracy if we aren't allowed to post to anything else on reddit at all?

        [–]antipositive 17ポイント18ポイント  (0子コメント)

If I have learned anything about conspiratards is that they will stick to their claims no matter how ridiculous they are. That's why I am no big fan of catering to the crazy. One thing for example /r/conspiracy could do on their side, would be only allowing their own member to vote.

I unterstand the direction y'all want to head and I agree that this sub shouldn't be a mirror of /r/conspiracy, this would be dull and one-dimensional. On the other hand, those links give a good view into the conspiratard's mindset and thus I see them as as a viable source. I was always glad when folks posted them, so I could avoid to browse this trainwreck of a sub myself. Voting or commenting there only dilutes the sample.

I'm good with not being able to link to /r/conspiracy threads, but can we link to reddit archives of /r/conspiracy threads or screen shots of them?

Because then we'd still be able to see their craziness and hilarious comments but have no way to brigade without manually finding the thread.

I had to unsub, after what 2 years or so, which I guess is your whole point? What do I care how /r/conspiracy feels? They've banned almost everyone just for even mentioning their subreddit AND they're all pretty much crazy. The only thing you're doing by disallowing links is giving their (literal) insanity a boost of justification. If you're on their side, then mod their subreddit, not this one.

Yeah. It's proof the crazy always gets it's way against the smart. There is no need for us to respect shitty subs. Whether the reason being proving we are 'holier than thau' or aproaching them trough fairness. They won't get better if left alone and why would they deserve that.

I see nothing wrong with pruning content to improve focus when complimentary subreddits are promoted to fill the gap.

Its not like a Museum putting taking a bunch of exhibits off display. Its a rearrangement where some of the content is to be no longer in one section, and are to be moved to other locations. Sure its not what we are used to, & the links to /r/conspiracy is what I have largely known this subreddit to be. - But all content is still welcome, just not here.

This is a reasonable solution with no real downside other than, its not what we are used to.

I appreciate the effort to make this sub more about the wider online paranoia sphere (conspirasphere?). Hopefully we'll enjoy some better content and less drama.

I'm a bit unclear, though, on whether this is intended to place all content related to other subs off-limits here, or just meta-drama. Does it include screenshots of particularly egregious posts or comments from r/conspiracy (for example, the Sandy Hook denial fiasco, the giant Hitler on the sidebar a few months ago, or literally anything Flytape says)? Also, are links to content that is trending on that sub, but not to the thread or sub itself, allowed?
