Member count dropping rapidly? (self.litecoin)

Does anyone know why? Yesterday we were at 25,800. Now we are at 24,900. Seems like a pretty drastic drop in members.

Eh, the Litecoin community is pretty much my least favorite Altcoin community, if you even mention the merits of another coin it brings immediate downvotes. So much fear and xenophobia, it really limits the discussions that could further our own understandings. Instead we get the usual circle jerk topics on the front page and the excitement over the shortcoming of other cryptocurrencies. It's pathetic really and in fact, typing this out has made me realize that I could care less having this sub on my account. Even though I also hold almost a quarter of all my crypto investments in Litecoin, because I do believe in it, the community on reddit is just purely toxic in my opinion. Maybe I'll join back when this community grows up a bit and has actual intellectual conversations that inspire rather than put down. Maybe. But I really do doubt it. Peace.

I converted my remaining 10 coins to BTC a few days ago. The more time I spend away from the community, the less appealing it looks when I eventually come back :/

I think Litecoin made a lot of sense 2 years ago when I got in, but it really has become irrelevant for those not steeped in it all day.

It's only Bossman and 1 or 2 others who make many posts in that direction every day. They just can't shut up. litecointalk is better but has many of the redditmods as mods there as well.

No escape I guess, except for the usermoderated threads on Bitcointalk :/

In all fairness, some of us are doing quit a bit behind the scenes in order to help Litecoin. Which in turn leaves little time for other things :(.

The fundamentals haven't changed , still the second most traded and liquid coin. If anything litecoin makes more sense now then it did two years ago with the whole bitcoinxt hard fork.

Well, you're in this space a lot more than I am, but how does it make more sense exactly? If anything, the bitcoinxt fork shows that Bitcoin is trying to become leaner and more scalable, like Litecoin supposedly.

It's also against the sub rules and for good reason see rule number 5. We can't have this place flooded with shilling for the new flavor of the week coin. All these coins claim to best the next best thing and then quickly dump like your precious etherum and faded into oblivion. We've seen this many times before with coins like soildcoin , feathercoin etc...

I understand your point, but I was really speaking of Bitcoin. Any good news for Bitcoin has always meant good news for Litecoin in my opinion, and anytime in the past I pointed out that this would be good for the community it resulted in downvotes. There are other coins that really do offer great solutions to some of the problems even Litecoin faces, at the very least to learn from the problems of similar coins. anyways, I've unsubbed so this will be my last entry to this community.

probably because litecoin has not made any significant progress. No companies have offered to support / sell / produce anything that has to do with litecoin. It's not going anywhere. It's disappointing.

I got the same impression. I have been lurking this sub for a few months and so far, of the cryptocurrency subs I had a look at, this seems to be the one with the least content. I have no idea what Litecoin has going for it other than the hope that the Chinese will stick to it or that it either benefits from the strength or shortcomings of Bitcoin. This sub reads more like a support group.

Not a huge surprise. Lot of people came in pre-halving, drank the Kool-Aid about big gains due to the halving, and when it didn't happen...they left. Now, the sub is back to the traffic levels of about six months ago.

The price is around 3x up from the nearly 1 dollar lows we saw, nearly an 8 fold increase when the price spiked. Halving was the event, the volitility was largely if not completely related to that event. 900 people all logging into r/litecoin on the same day to unsubscribe, I'm not sure about that but interest waxing and waning with price fluctuations isn't anything new.

The reality about litecoin is it'll probably continue its course of following Bitcoin development at a fair distance on rails at a very pedestrian pace, there are literally hundreds of other alternate coins that can be chosen that do not wish to follow this model all hoping to innovate their way past Bitcoin to the no.1 slot.

The 8x price spike was a well-documented manipulation. The current price is residual from the halving hype; people who bought in hoping for/expecting a big bubble akin to what Bitcoin experienced after its halving (for reasons mostly unrelated to the halving). If the Litecoin price doesn't bubble within the next few months, I expect price to react to that.

You timed it right, then. You are also in the minority. There were a LOT of people chasing that pump and when it reversed around $8 and splashed down, they lost. The market moves quick when it's manipulated, people who aren't ready with stops or don't know how to trade get slaughtered.
