Stanford Is Requiring Malala Yousafzai To Take SATs Because A Nobel Peace Prize Is Meaningless These Days

Malala Yousafzai is quite possibly one of the most influential, mesmerizing and important women on this planet right now. If you’re unaware of who she is, that’s really quite disturbing and you need to get your priorities straight and read a newspaper.
If you’re one of those people and I haven’t offended you off yet, let’s make a very long story short. Malala is a Nobel Peace Prize recipient (youngest ever by the way) who stands at the forefront on the issue of women’s education across the globe. She spoke out against the Taliban and subsequently was shot in the head by one of their militants. After her recovery, her voice grew even louder and she’s become one of the biggest figures in our world. Okay, now you know the highly abridged version which doesn’t even do her justice.
Now that she is 18, it’s time for her to start considering colleges if that’s even the route she’s looking to take. With college, comes the dreaded application process, and apparently she’s going to have to go through the same process as everyone else. Why, exactly?
Yousafzai has her eyes set on Stanford, and the university has stated that she will have to take her SATs before she’s even considered. So basically, Stanford wants to rank her aptitude before letting her walk their prestigious stuck-up halls. Now, I can kind of understand Stanford’s approach here. They’re treating every applicant the same and it knocks off the criticisms that universities will let certain applicants into their school based on their name. We all knew the Olsen twins didn’t really make it into NYU, see what I’m saying?
Now that I’ve somewhat defended them, I feel that I can now curse them. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME STANFORD? Some people do deserve a free pass sometimes, and she’s definitely one of them. This woman has been the voice of millions who have been silenced. She fights for women’s education and has opened up her own school, stood up to the Taliban and survived their assassination attempt on her. What more do you need, Stanford? Would you really deny her because her reading comprehension scores weren’t up to par?
Shame on you. She should be welcomed into your university with open arms. You would be housing one of the most important women in the entire world. Ever. Get it together, Stanford. Can you even see us all the way up there on your horse?
Girl power, Malala! We got your back.
