Summary
The Dark Enlightenment, or neoreaction, focuses on the fundamentally flawed tenets of modern western culture.
The darkly enlightened share many ideas, but many are still debated. Examples:
  • Secular progressivism is the memetic descendent of Puritan Calvinism. Blasphemy, inquisition, indoctrination, and brainwashing still occur from the perspective of the progressive religion. Therefore, progressive culture is referred to as “the Cathedral”. The Cathedral consists of influential people in politics, journalism, academia and education acting in an uncoordinated manner to advance progressive principles in society; often deceptively. We do not imply conspiracies.
  • Hierarchies are a natural consequence of innate differences and are necessary for societies to function. Stratified outcomes alone are not enough to prove discrimination or a failure of "social justice". There is no "social justice," only traditional justice.
  • The only morality is civilization. Any belief or ideology that works against civilization is evil no matter how well-intentioned.
  • Traditional values are not accidental. They are non-ideological social adaptations that provide good solutions to complex social problems. Cultures separated by vast amounts of time and geography independently converged on similar values. Values converged because cultures that implemented these values had a competitive advantage over their neighbors and became civilizations. Cultures that did not implement them failed and are forgotten.
  • Modern conservatives are last century’s progressives. Many ideas held by “conservatives” today were progressive (sometimes radically so) in the past.
  • Neoreactionaries acknowledge the legitimate flaws inherent to Democracies and are “predisposed, in any case, to perceive the politically awakened masses as a howling irrational mob, it conceives the dynamics of democratization as fundamentally degenerative: systematically consolidating and exacerbating private vices, resentments, and deficiencies until they reach the level of collective criminality and comprehensive social corruption.”
  • A system of No Voice-Free Exit in large hyper-federalist states or small independent city states is the optimal political arrangement. Singapore is an imprecise example with little political voice, but massive economic freedom and high levels of prosperity. City-states would be in constant competition for minds and business and risk losing economically valuable citizens and businesses if poorly run since they can easily relocate. This creates an incentive to remain economically and socially free.
  • Neoreactionaries accept human biological diversity. Individual humans and human groups differ in ability, psychological disposition, intelligence, and other traits for genetic reasons. Genetics can explain 50% or more of the differences in lifetime outcomes within and between human groups. Other factors are minor by comparison.
  • Recognition of HBD necessitates the rejection of the core progressive dogma of egalitarianism. Race and gender are not social constructs and everyone personally experiences that not all men or women are created equal. It is easier to believe in Leprechauns than to believe in egalitarianism.

For those who object to the development on this site of a WN tendency, here is a brief outline of the steps by which a PUA develops such unpleasant, trigggering attitudes.
  1. Wanting to get laid, Beta reads about PUA and mind is awoken to the nature and processes of women. Beta is intrigued.
  2. Beta reads Rollo and comes to understand how society has institutionalized hypergamy to ensure resource extraction from betas
  3. Beta becomes aware of his role in society as an obedient resouce provider
  4. Beta sees how he has been programmed and propagandized to accept his role as resource provider (he puts on his “They Live” spectacles)
  5. Beta notes that it is not just women benefitting from his sweat and blood
  6. Beta sees that the scheme of programming and propaganda (Rollo’s Feminine Imperative) is managed on a very large scale and applies sophisticated means, far beyond anything women would or could do on their own. That is, the scheme is instututionalized.
  7. Beta sees that many specific groups other than just women benefit from the operation of the FI and control its institutions
  8. Beta perceives that the interests of these groups are inimical to his own
  9. Beta openly objects to being ruled by those who only want to drink his blood

Well that's a pretty accurate summary of my personal development for the past 5 years. I suspect pick up -> redpill -> neoreaction is a pretty common path.

I used to be a raging libtard feminist faggot of the highest order. I've got experience campaigning for many progtard faggots in my twenties. Taking the red pill lead me to several NRx authors which lead me to here. And to recognize that a massive chunk of what I was taught as facts in college is simply propaganda.
The red pill told me the truth about women but I wanted to know more. I wanted to know why my own government is encouraging the destruction of the family unit and suicide of my people. Which leads to reaction and the dark enlightenment.

I like yourself already agreed with a lot of the content of this subreddot before I started pickup and the like. Women never made sense to me until redpill though. Still really don't male sense but it works.

Neoreaction organized a lot of ideas that had been rolling around in my head into a coherent way of describing the world and connected a lot of dots. It was the first time that I've encountered people who seemed to see the world through the same eyes as mine.

Never swallowed TRP. Managed to abandon degenerate thought without pulling through a preliminary membrane of useful but ultra-degenerate thought and I never found attracting women sufficiently difficult to justify spending time studying game. I don't think TRP is necessarily false insofar as it seems to help upgrade low-value men but its general prescriptions ultimately suck.

    It doesn't reintroduce fatherhood as an imperative and essentially says because modernity+modern women suck, it's cool for men to slut around and avoid committed relationships instead of managing their masculinity in a traditional direction. It reinforces the problem. It starts from MRA assumptions, reaches vaguely correct trad conclusions, and has almost completely degenerate prescriptions. Only good redpill subreddits are /r/redpillparenting and /r/redpillwomen. Redpill men are not holding up their half of the civilizational bargain.
    TLDR: I'm okay with them fundamentally because they're contributing to 'collapse', but post-'collapse', there will be no place for cads.

    I love how MRAs are always put in the same category as PUAs and Redpillers by their leftist critics. The left has been doing this to us for three centuries, and even now they truly and honestly believe there are only two types of right : you're either a Republican or a Nazi. Internal differences of the right are not important to them because they're not after truth, they're looking for an easy way to identify, brand, mock and publicly humiliate their victims.
    Now most of these guys in MRM are good, obedient leftists just asking for an extra bone ore two, on almost every single issue except women they're faithful liberals, but they get treated by their leftist brethren as Nazis, and that's good for us. The more hostility a man encounters for stating the most obvious facts of his life, the easier it becomes for him to go all the way. Once you are branded, the fear of being branded goes away.
    So essentially leftists are pushing their people to our side, because they have become mad with power. I think sooner or later they realize this trend and start giving men what the want at the earliest stages of awakening(MRA). They are masters of compromise and because they don't have a sense of truth, they can absorb almost anything and anyone. They will see the trend and put a stop to it, they will embrace MRAs to stop their progression to PUAs, they will embrace PUAs to stop them from becoming Redpillers and so on. They will stop dehumanizing the "moderates" and encourage them to denounce the "extremists", they've been doing this for a long time and they're awfully good at it. So we should be working very hard to recruit as much as we can as fast as we can, these men will be the only ones knowing the truth.

    Here's how leftism happens, first they say something like "Why should we kill these poor homosexuals? They're merely sick and in need of treatment, would you kill a cancer patient?". The next step would be "We need to decriminalize homosexuality altogether, it doesn't concern the government what people do in the privacy of their homes". Next it'll be "Homosexuality is not unnatural, but merely a different mode of natural manifestation of human sexual desire, we should accept and tolerate it". Finally we will get to the point we are right now "Homosex is superior to normal sex because it doesn't oppress any of the involved parties, homosexuals are at least equals of normal people".
    At any of these stages if a significant amount of resistance is showed leftists are ready to take a step back, keep repeating that until they have "manufactured" consent and only then move on to the next stage.
    Feminism is now facing backlash from men in Anglophone countries because you guys don't have enough socialism. Here in my country, which is a bit wealthier and - naturally - more degenerate, men also receive welfare, aid, custody of their children, divorce settlements and so on, as a result of this, hostility to feminism is much lower, although I should also mention that we don't have any of that tumbler-tier feminism of u go gurrrl you guys have to endure, and it's a more ideologically sophisticated pseudo-intellectual kind of feminism.
    Feminism will be abandoned for a more egalitarian perspective to prevent men from becoming hostile dissidents, it will suck even worse, but you won't have anyone to blame and point the finger at either. Men will be bribed into silence and compliance.

    At this point pretty much everybody other than white males are a 'victim group' leeching off (white) males. Letting men off the hook with a more egalitarian setup would remove rent-seeking opportunities for all these 'victims'. They all will strongly resist that.

    I can't remember who was it that said you can fit all the truly productive people of the world in a small village, but I agree with him mostly. The absolute vast majority of men aren't also providing the world with indispensable, unique and productive service, they're doing pretend jobs that are designed to make them feel better about being useless. Those that are truly innovative, productive and valuable are as such because their natures compels them so. Their deepest desires of their noble souls. Great men aren't great because it's the most beneficial option, as the vulgar capitalist would have us believe, they are great because they can't be any other way. They would still create and innovate even if they were punished for it.
    We are all stranding on their shoulders. Yes these great men happen to be white, but not all white men are created equal. Do you really think this or any other social system cannot function without the help of men who desire to be as women?!

    Expect the bone to be some kind of shared parenting only with harsh state and court oversight. They'll call it child's rights or something probably and expect to see a push for children to get their own lawyers. The men's rights folk will call it a win because men won't have to fight for years and spend tens of thousands of dollars to get their visiting time. But it will be a massive loss as children are further moved from ownership by their parents (mother really, men no longer have any paternal rights) to ownership by the state.
    Everyone can spin this as a win and now children will have their own lawyers to bring accusations of thought crimes against their "parents".

    I think moreover that beta men also have the most to lose by keeping modern society going. What really is in it for him? His role of provider has been stolen out from under him by the courts, feminism, and laws. His greatest power (his ability to provide) is basically all but useless to attract the types of girls he wants. Since his role of provider is not respected he has few friends and even fewer relationships.
    What really draws betas in more than anything are what are called, "dry streaks" where they go years without real relationships and limited friendships. That's what it took for me to start looking around more and asking questions. Most betas will never get that bad and will be given the scraps (leftovers from relationships) which they will be more than happy with. They will even gloat about their table scraps as if they were a three course meal, and not simply what Alphas allowed them to have to placate them. I remind the reader this is how the vast majority of Western men live, to be used and abused by a society deliberated designed to fuck them over.
    Furthermore a beta man has more to worry about in terms of race as well. An alpha will more than likely succeed anywhere and lead anywhere due to his social power. A beta man working will then not only have to compete with men of other races, but also he races to be the greatest provider. That being said race is still important to him as he is not physically strong, he needs to gain power from strength in numbers. All the while him and his beta compatriots of other races fail to realize that provision is the last thing that young Western(or Westernized) women want. Young women in our society make extremely poor lifestyle choices and often choose the most stupid, immoral, and selfish men they can find.
    Here's a thought experiment on this, think of the most selfish, stupid, and immoral prick you know. Now think of the most moral, altruistic, and intelligent guy you know. Chances are the first guy has had his pick of the litter with women, and the nice guy provider has fucked 0-3 women. If that. There are deadbeats who commit crime and are on welfare that are the social equivalent of Bill Gates. As they have no job they have infinite time to chase girls. Whereas clean-living, employed men are often the social equivalent of a dirty bum living on the street.
    It's very much also a civilizational ponzi scheme among the betas for who can produce the most resources. This of course becomes an impossible scheme as female demand will always outstrip the male supply (watch the misandry treadmill by Sandman on youtube, my opinion his best video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Hv0pCROFCM). Although I generally don't like the guy or the MGTOW movement, I thought this video was pretty compelling.

    The most intelligent men I know have all have double digit partner counts, at a minimum. Additionally, while they may not be amoral (though some certainly are), these men typically do not hold fast to society's moral dictates, traditional or progressive. If I could sum up this group's moral code it would be: honor your contracts, formal and otherwise.
    Similarly, the total fucking idiots I grew up in the trailer park with have high counts, although most aren't getting much play now because they're broke, washed up, and live in squalor. The had a great ride in their 20s, though, if they were good looking.
    The guys who never got any action are somewhat less intelligent than the first group, but still quite capable, and much more financially successful than the second. They are also quite moral and altruistic. After years of near celibacy, they are now married to the women who "made mistakes" with the second group and couldn't lock anyone from the first down. These poor bastards; they got sloppy fifths and tell themselves they're the lucky ones, the real winners, because, "she ended up with me."

    The only people who remain "stuck" at the Red Pill "player" stage are the one's who are still imitating, but now they've just learned a new set of rules... the Red Pill rules... to imitate.
    Dark Enlightenment means the very act of imitation comes under question.
    We become "enlightened" to the degree that emotional indoctrination is being forced upon us and driving us to imitate the beta culture.
    Red Pill is very helpful for waking people up, so we must never view their existence in a negative light even though it's a "lessor truth" than what we discuss here.
